Discussion: Church Shooting Highlights Dark Past For Charleston Race Relations

Discussion for article #237688

I was schooled many years ago to believe Lincoln’s amnesty approach to the Confederacy was best to heal America. However, a harder line to punish the traitors may have been the better course for the nation’s future in light of how treason became popularized as merely part of the “southern heritage”. This fostered a climate that condoned state-orchestrated victimization of African-Americans that has continued to this day.
