Discussion: Chuck Todd Will Probably Be The Next 'Meet The Press' Host, According To Politico 'Siren'

If that’s the case, not much of an improvement. Todd is an even bigger water-carrier for the GOP than “Fluffy” Gregory.

i vote for tamron hall … i’ve never seen her do an interview when her follow up questions did not demonstrate that she does her homework and knows her stuff, and she knows how to push and not let guests get away with sound byte answers - . there should be a vote … i stopped watching mtp a very long time ago, and chuck todd is not going to make me turn the teevee back on in that time slot, so i’m not sure what problem making that change is going to solve … HEY NBC - TAMRON HALL …

It doesn’t matter who hosts it (unless it is Randi Rhodes or somebody knowledgeable who can challenge the bullshit artists). I gave up on TV news years ago and turned to the internet–which I’m about to give up on as well–I’m tired of badly written, one-sided no-information articles. Tho TPM is still good…

Little did we know at the time that he was actually saying that as part of an interview for Gregory’s job.

MTP with an actual journalist asking real questions is a fantasy.

Agreed. Let’s change the name to “Game the Press”

But Weigel is actually a journalist, so he would be too dangerous to be in that position.

He’s also very Libertarian/Conservative—so he’d be just like Todd, except competent.

something oddly appropriate that Todd’s promotion would be announced in Allen’s asswipe.

Chuck Todd owns 8 pairs of GOP knee pads…one for each day of the week and extra pair when he appears with Dead Intern Joe.

Me Depressed.

Who cares. No one watches it anymore

I don’t know if that is exactly correct. If he is, he puts his politics aside and does some good journalistic work

Shah Gregory leaves, Ayatollah Todd takes the throne.

One Teashill after another,NBC?..

Bringing on Chuck Todd will not bring me back to the MTP fold and I am sure there are many others like me. CT is the same stripe as DG!!

This just makes me weary—or wearier, anyway. Where Sunday morning political shows used to be fascinating, now they are all petty bickering between insiders and everyone so careful not to offend anyone too much. It doesn’t matter what new clown they put in, nothing will change until they change their approach and remember what journalism is supposed to be about. Just weary, weary, weary…

personally i would like to see Lawrence O’Donnell but that will never happen.

Anyone who thinks Gregory is just like Todd is a blind MSM hater capable of the same level of nuance as a Sarah Palin – but on the left-wing of the spectrum.

Those who’ve been watching Todd can tell he knows his issues, asks tough questions that aren’t rooted in some cynical gotcha game, and has a strong affinity for giving his audience context and data points.

No, he’s not an editorialist with a left wing bent like Maddow, and MTP has never had such a host. He’s much more in the Russert mold though lacks Tim’s steely gravitas.

But let’s be clear, MTP has always been a hack show, where politicos work out their latest talking points without much pushback. Lot of people here with rose-colored nostalgic memories of the glory days of TV-yore.

I welcome Todd, if he does assume the host chair, as unlike Gregory he doesn’t seem beholden to Republican infantile fantasies of Obama deserving blame for everything.

As for ratings though, no way is this gonna boost MTP’s ratings. It’s a balkanized market with a ton of other competitive shows in that slot and a shrinking audience. There’s nothing they can do about that unless they stage literal fights between their well-coiffed guests a la Jerry Springer. I have to say though, I would tune in for that just to see the chicken hawk Lindsey Graham get slapped around like the little bitch he is.

Yeah, that’s not helping.

Bad (downright awful) as he is, Gregory never spawned a new word to describe the mendacity of the media.

chucktodd, a verb meaning to create a false equivalency when discussing the actions of the major political parties; as in ‘both sides do it.’ when clearly they do not.
