And he is basically begging Trump to attack him to give him another little boost in ratings over this. After said attack, he will agree to again let Trump just phone it in.
To be perfectly honest, having Trump there wouldn’t make much difference. Its not like Todd is ever going to make anyone on the right side of the aisle actually squirm.
Todd is why over his head on MtP, he was out of his league even before, just having his own show. He is a marginal poll watcher that has a propensity to kiss up to those over him. Its the basis of his career, and its how he does interviews.

Exactly. His “analysis” always consisted of reciting some data point to confirm the “conventional wisdom” of those above him. Never any in depth look at the numbers to raise questions or point towards larger trends.
Todd is a prototypical lackey, just looking for the right villain to attach himself.
