Senator Connecticut dude is also not voting for Sessions. You heard it first here! (unless you saw it on MSNBC).
sessions BLOCKED every! black judge obama proposed for alabama…cept one…and thats because he was already seated…in fact obama leaves office with 5 open vacancies which the pretender will fill with other racists like the pretender and sessions.
but…i thought the senate could put “holds” on nominees effectively blocking them…though i admit not being up on their procedures.
If you haven’t seen this please read the letter Coretta Scott King sent the 1986 committee against Sessions’ federal judgeship.
Sessions’ comments from 2014 on secularism are not getting the airing they deserve–
“And if you don’t believe there’s a truth, you don’t believe in truth, if you’re an utter secularist, then how do we operate this government?"
http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2017/01/12/jeff-sessions-said-secularists-are-unfit-for-government.html
Dude, we operate the government without “an establishment of religion,” the way the founders intended.
I don’t have any doubt he’s opposing Sessions. Why would he approve? There’s absolutely no “upside” for ANY Dem to approve him. None. His and the Rethugs racism is so nakedly blatant, that they were handing out an article with info on “How Democrats steal the Black vote.” Really ugly, crazy sh*t.
From the home folks:
"Before even hearing what Sen. Cory Booker had to say on Wed., Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), dismissed his testimony about the attorney general nomination of fellow Sen. Jeff Sessions as “a disgraceful breach of custom.”
Booker is the first sitting senator to testify against a colleague in a confirmation hearing. So what?
The idea that this violates some basic protocol, that one of the few black Senators - backed by members of the Congressional Black Caucus and Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), a civil rights icon - should mind his manners is, in a word, obnoxious."
Who woulda guessed?
It’s the Republicans who don’t believe in truth.
No Democrat should.
He’ll still be confirmed.
Sessions is utterly unacceptable as attorney general. By all means, Democrats should vote against him. But, because he will sail through the process (for a variety of reasons, the overall strategy should be to get Sessions on the record regarding key issues and disagreements with Trump (e.g. torture, the rule of law), to make clear that their opposition is based on the straightforward issue of fairness, and to lay the groundwork for him to be the least popular AG since John Mitchell.
Every unfair decision and action that Sessions takes (and there will be many) should be questioned, and placed in the context that the highest prosecutor in the land has a highly suspect record when it comes to race and fairness. This guy carries A LOT of baggage. It shouldn’t be too difficult to make Republicans rue the day they put him in such a powerful position.
Tom Cotton, who contacted the Iranian government personally to threaten the Iran deal, complained about a “breach of custom?!”
Thats the “TOM”.
Beauregard: The Jews just don’t like my beautiful name.
So will the Justice Department have to order new drapes to cover the Spirit of Justice and the Majesty of Justice? Will it be because Sessions is embarrassed, or because it will be a sign that Justice is hidden in this new Trumpian administration?
Democrats should vote against all of Peepee’s nominees except maybe one or two they think they can live with. Tillerson, especially Sessions, and a few others shouldn’t even be considered. Not one Democratic vote should be given to them. Republicans should have to do this on their own and face the consequences on their own.
Sessions is a civil rights and church/state division disaster.
However, what I’m happy about this morning is that Schumer called out explicitly that Sessions will not be an adequate check on Trump. This is good. The rule of law is on particularly shaky ground in the realm of the Trump administration.
Who runs the department if Sessions isn’t confirmed? Some “acting” apparatchik from the Federalist Society?
I’m curious - who are the maybe one or two?
The only reason Rump has chosen most of these degenerates is because they were either verbal or financial supporters. There are competent people for his posse to find.
