Exactly. the last public statement was by Comey talking about a conversation that occurred before Trump fired him in March - part of the obstruction of justice - and months before Mueller was even appointed. Did Tapper ask Christie, “You were a federal prosecutor yourself…did you tell targets of investigations that they were targets at the beginning of the investigation, 1/2 way through, or when you hauled them in front of the grand jury to testify after you already had a solid case and the investigation was pretty much over?”

Why would Christie hear anything about the status of Mueller’s investigation ? Is he privy to inside information from someone in the Justice Department about the targets of the investigation ? Who is he referring to when he says," We’ve heard nothing " ? Has Jared Kushner forgiven him for sending his father to prison ? Christie desperately clinging to the hope that Trump will reward him for his public fawning.

There is a massive panic going on in the WH and in GOP circles. The whole week has been a full court press against Hillary which pretty clearly seems to be an organized distraction from the indictments. The risk of Trump trying something to fire Mueller is pretty high.

That said, Trump has always been annoyed at this investigation and has wanted to fire Mueller for months. Why hasn’t he? Answer: his lawyer, Cobb. Cobb has convinced Trump that he can protect him but that Trump will have to let others, like Flynn and Manafort take the fall. Trump is ok with that. What he would not be ok with is the family business and the family being touched. That means Jared Kushner, Donald Trump Jr, Trump organization and Ivanka.

What we’re seeing this week/weekend with Trump’s big hissy fit and his L Ron Hubbard like abilities to get his minions in the MSM, FOX and GOP to act out on his behalf, is Trump’s attempt to reconcile himself to the fact that Jared Kushner will need to go down for him to survive in the WH. Incidentally, Bannon’s whole theory of how to get Trump out of the #trumprussia scandal is to pin it all on Kushner. While that’s unrealistic, it is without a doubt that Kushner is at the center of 2 or 3 key spokes in this wheel of treason. In an impartial system of justice, someone in Kushner’s role should expect to get indicted. Whether Kushner is the first one out of the gate on Monday or not, it’s apparent IMHO that Kushner is in the top 5 and that Mueller has been gunning for him just as Comey did previously.

  1. If Jake Tapper were quick on his feet, he might have asked former US Attorney for the District of New Jersey Chris Christie if he routinely announced or notified the targets of his evolving criminal investigations.
