Discussion: Christie Rejects Pope's Call For US, Cuba To Build Better Relationship

Discussion for article #240770

And speaking as someone raised Catholic, now atheist, but loving Pope Francis, I reject Christie’s rejection – piss off you narcissistic ever-hatin’ blowhard.

I was shocked a number of years back when guy from England told me his favorite place to go for vacations was Cuba. I just assumed all that a lot of our allies would be boycotting them too. When I found out otherwise I just had to wonder even more why in the world we continued to do this.

Canadians have been going there for years. North of the Palm Beach county line no one really gives a shit about that sorry little island other than use as a political football. Stupid Christie thinks he is going to go against the business interests (cruise lines , telecom, airlines, consumer goods ) that are sitting in the wings waiting to get a foot in the door. The business interests will change the policy by pressuring Republicans.

Well, I guess he did some research on this pander, and on gestation crates and such, you have to give him that. Ironic—if he’d put the same effort into being a good, honest governor that he’d put into this B.S. he might actually have had a shot. Karma.

Canadians certainly, Europeans, even Americans if they can cook up a reason based on journalism, education and so forth. Can you imagine the food, music, beaches and all we’ve been missing all these years? Just 90 miles from Miami. It’s nuts.

Christie referenced Joanne Chesimard…

And we all know that having no diplomatic relations with another country is the best way to resolve problems like this. Oh, wait, no - that’s just stupid.

Christie is in his last term and one of the most reviled governors ever in New Jersey, and that’s saying a lot about New Jersey and Christie. There have been a few good governors of NJ, but a load of ugly ones, too. Practically nobody with a pulse likes Christie now, unless they fear him for some reason. Once Christie’s term is up, he’ll have to write a book as he dodges jail time in Club Fed and perhaps get a gig at Faux Snooze to supplement his retirement income as a former governor.

Nobody outside of Palm Beach County, Florida or maybe a few places in New Jersey and NYC, (Cuban immigrants from the 50’s and 60’s) …nobody else cares what Christie is talking about, and never will.

So the Pope is infallible on religious matters but fallible on political ones and Christie is infallible on both. To me it makes more sense for Palin to still be newsworthy than for this sad man to be. At least with Palin you get some family brawls and chastity preaching unmarried kids popping out babies while lecturing us on faith. With Christie all you get is an unpleasant loud mouth biting your leg.

my thoughts exactly.

Logical conclusions:

No religion, including the extreme far right so-called Christianists, should be mixing in politics.

USA harbors murderers all the time, so we’re just like Cuba.

(The Repubs are now just openingly running around in circles chasing their own tales now…and, no, I hadn’t intended to do that but it works, doesn’t it?)

I’ve never been Catholic, so I am forced to accept Chris Christie as my spiritual sherpa on all things in Heaven and on Earth.

If we severed relations over every ongoing beef we probably wouldn’t need a diplomatic service at all. Of course we’d have to quintuple our military budget. Yay! Wingnutting is easy.
