Discussion: Christie: I'm Pro-Life For More Than Just The Nine Months In The Womb

Discussion for article #245657

it was a good response especially after Cruz’s overly detailed non-answer about his family’s experience with abuse (…she was angry…)

He’s desperately trying to repackage his one success in recent months - i.e. acknowledging that addiction is a disease. However, none of his other policies would help kids of the poor in any way (see, New Jersey).

Chris Christie:

The 16-year-old heroin-addicted drug girl on the floor of the county lockup, I’m pro-life for her life. The 42-year-old lawyer who’s taking OxyContin and can’t get out of bed … and support his own family, I’m pro-life for his life …

… The old woman dying in an ambulance in a traffic jam on a bridge I blocked up to harass a mayor who didn’t endorse me, I’m pro-life for her life too!

“Pro-Life.” Right, in the sense that “we need as many rubes as possible out there breeding to supply cheap labor and the war fodder we so desperately need.” I don’t know if the audience–the GOP core voters–wants to hear anything about being “pro-life” with regards to actual living, breathing babies and any kind of adult. By even broaching this angle of the subject, Christie shines an undesired spotlight on their less-than-Jesus-like acts.

The later mention of abortion was interesting - sure rape an incest exceptions, but nothing how they will make sure there are no safe places to get an abortion. That’s real class warfare.

Seriously, this is why we need a pro-choice woman in the White House. I’m sick of men commenting on women’s reproductive rights. I’m fucking up to here with it. (You can’t see…but I’m waving my hands over my head). Take your fucking Viagra and shut the fuck up already. Holier than thou BULLSHIT.

I can’t vote for the guy but that’s a great line and one he should keep using to bash the other candidates in this race. Christie could actually be the best politician on the ticket. Too bad the republican orthodoxy simply won’t let him win.

Christie is corrupt as hell, one of the most corrupt politicians in the Mid-Atlantic seaboard, and that’s saying a lot. The competition here for that title is fierce.

But he’s generally not stupid, which is more than you can say for most of the jackasses on that stage.

LOL. Only those of us around 45 and older will get what that even means. I haven’t seen any broadcast television outlets do that anymore. Many years. Actually, thanks for bringing back some fond memories from when I was a little kid.

That’s what young women supporting Bernie haven’t quite figured out imho. There’s no better person to advocate and insure pro-choice reproductive rights than Hillary will be in the White House. That older generation of women, that helped fight tooth and nail for those rights at great sacrifice to themselves and others, are why woman today are able to make the kind of family planning choices about when to raise a family should an unwanted or unplanned pregnancy occur. That is our right! Many younger women lack that sense of history over how hard that was to achieve for all women, and how hard over many years it was to retain those rights for future generations. Now that those rights are being slowly chipped away at, they won’t know how important it was until its all decimated by power-hungry men in government pandering to religious zealots. They haven’t the first clue of how important a right this is. Republicans for sure don’t, but even some Dems write it off as some kind of side issue they’d rather not deal with. Frankly, I’ve seen it in both parties, but more so on the right.

These m-therfuckers will never get that we need fucking birth control. For them, it’s a political ploy. 9th ring, I tell ya.

The extreme paternalism in this country is what suffocates every good idea that has the potential to benefit American women; from making it harder to get birth control to not being able to get a legal abortion without massive recriminations; from not being able to receive equal pay to not being able to have a constitutionally guaranteed equal rights amendment in our law; from being denied paid family leave to failing to protect women from domestic abuse, rape or incest in every jurisdiction around the country. You name it, if a woman wants those rights, she has to fight for them. Waiting for men in government to do it for us, so far hasn’t worked out so well. Wooing doesn’t fucking work. We are over half of the population in this country, but still have so far to go.

The Hand That Rocks the Cradle (1865)
by William Ross Wallace

Blessings on the hand of women!
Angels guard its strength and grace,
In the palace, cottage, hovel,
Oh, no matter where the place;
Would that never storms assailed it,
Rainbows ever gently curled;
For the hand that rocks the cradle
Is the hand that rules the world.

Infancy’s the tender fountain,
Power may with beauty flow,
Mother’s first to guide the streamlets,
From them souls unresting grow—
Grow on for the good or evil,
Sunshine streamed or evil hurled;
For the hand that rocks the cradle
Is the hand that rules the world.

Woman, how divine your mission
Here upon our natal sod!
Keep, oh, keep the young heart open
Always to the breath of God!
All true trophies of the ages
Are from mother-love impearled;
For the hand that rocks the cradle
Is the hand that rules the world.

Blessings on the hand of women!
Fathers, sons, and daughters cry,
And the sacred song is mingled
With the worship in the sky—
Mingles where no tempest darkens,
Rainbows evermore are hurled;
For the hand that rocks the cradle
Is the hand that rules the world.

Goodnight all…

Most sentient humans use the word “born.” Chris Christie says “they get out.” He has binders of women who back him up on this.
