Discussion: Christie Defends Maine Gov. LePage: 'He's A Good Man And He's Apologized'

Le Page is a ‘good man’ in exactly the same way that Christie is a ‘good man’.

Yup. He’s a good man by GOP standards. Condolences to the saner Mainers and New Jersey folks.

The overwhelming majority of Mainers voted against him…twice.

“It doesn’t change a bit for me, my affection for him, my respect for him as a leader and as a person,” he said.

Which disqualifies you for the presidency.

Because of the way that Maine’s elections are set up, he won with a minority of the votes. Maine’s elections are decided by who gets the most votes- no run offs, no tie breakers. So, no, the majority of Maine’s voters did not vote for him either time.

I’m a little miffed that no one in NJ, including myself, has attempted to recall this fat tub of shit!

I’m going to google the NJ process. It’s time.

“He is an incompetent and a racist and he isn’t sorry at all”. There, fixed it for you.

Like Jimmy Savile, Chris Christie is one of those people whose appeal is completely mysterious to me. They make my skin crawl, they are so obviously phony. But the media just love the slimy toads.

Even without Bridgegate and embezzling the Katrina relief funds to make videos for his re-election campaign, Christie makes no bones about being a loud mouthed bully.

But be real, the guy has never managed more than a 5% showing in the GOP nomination race polls and the only reason he won’t drop out is that he is liable to be indicted as soon as he does.

What I think is the bigger story is the fact that nobody in the GOP is prepared to condemn the racism of Trump, LePage et. al. The GOP has been pretty meticulous about keeping the appeals to racism in the background since Bush the elder took over from Reagan. I suspect this is in part due to the declining relevance of the evangelicals in the GOP. With the rise of Fox News, the plutocrats haven’t needed preachers to reach out to the masses for them.

Jeez… New Jersey law mandates that voters collect the signatures of 25 percent of registered voters. That’s 1,377,762 valid signatures.

“if I slipped up and used the wrong word, I apologize to Maine women,”

I’m kinda old school in thinking a sincere apology does not include a conditions.

OK, Jabba–if you actually think that defending fellow gasbag LePage will help you win the Maine primary, wouldn’t you like to borrow these kneepads?

lets see if Christie has the same attitude toward democrats

Stop defending old racists!

It doesn’t make you look better. It makes you look desperate!

PS, good men are NOT racists!

Presidential candidate New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) defended Maine Gov. Paul LePage (R) during an interview with MSNBC's "Morning Joe" on Monday morning, after LePage came under fire last week for racially charged remarks about heroin dealers impregnating "white women" in his state.

Shorter Christie: We fat dudes got to stick together.

No…he is not a ‘good man’ and no, he did not apologize. I am tired of the old canard…‘EVERYONE knows how he is’ which is also part of this same interview. You will go after the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES with made up BS (and later pretend it’s all politics) and accuse him of all SORTS of things…least of all, that he is NOT a ‘good man’. You are a pig, Christie.

“Everyone of us — me and everybody else who’s in public life — says things at times they wish they could take black–I mean, take back.”

Why reference “white women” if you’re not differentiating by race? The racism is obvious, then the lies are obvious, then we re-elect the racist liars.

“A leader”…really? Nothing in Maine is better since he took office, in fact things are FAR worse than they were before…except for the 1%…

“He’s a good man and he’s apologized,” Christie continued. “Everyone of us — me and everybody else who’s in public life — says things at times they wish they could take back.”

I’ll bet there are a lot of NJ voters who wish they could take back certain votes they cast.

And there are a lot of Maine voters proud of casting a ballot for LePage and would do it again.

The bigger question is - what about all those Maine voters who were being so cute and clever casting their third-party protest vote. Would they do it again? And if not, which way would they jump?
