Discussion: Christie Cronies Plead Not Guilty To BridgeGate Charges

Discussion for article #235957

Oh, those pesky perjury thingies that pop up when you have to testify under oath. Tsk, Tsk. I wonder how long it’s going to take to turn his insulting hubris into Jimmy-Swaggart-On-His-Knees-Begging-For-Forgiveness humility.

I still have vivid memories of going to court for a traffic violation in New Jersey as a teenager. Ahead of me was a man who stole a candy bar from the a drug store. He got a jail sentence of a few months for that candy bar.

These crooks stole a couple of lanes of the George Washington Bridge from the taxpayers it belongs to. Considering the damage, the value stolen is probably in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. I think it’s time for some Jersey justice down in Trenton. That email about traffic problems is all the evidence needed, although there certainly is more. These two should go to jail for a long time for their abuse of power. That is unless they are willing and able to push the blame to where it really belongs, the big man on top who we all know is at the source of this corruption.

“I am an innocent man,”

Every guilty man has said that. Wildstein did. He isn’t innocent and that’s going to come out. His goofy email’s are enough to sink him but everyone knows Wildstein had to have something to trade. And I doubt that DA, considering reputation, is going to bring anything but a sure thing at these folks.

By mid-July at least one cops. Then they both confess and get deferred sentences with fines and restitution.

Lots of traps for him if he does testify.

I keep thinking he’s pretending to run for president so he can gather funds for legal defense …

anticipate a furious, tenacious battle over the ground rules for his testimony - if it is open ended - count on plenty of grueling questions that will force Christie to politically neuter himself with a dull rusty knife - or perjure himself

If the defendants testify, they can be cross-examined. If Christie is subpeonaed, he can be examined and cross-examined, too. Maybe we’ll learn something.

Oh no, so blimpie soprano (yeah, I stole this moniker from another commenter), will have to testify…ie, lie on the stand…nice!

Hopefully, he will get caught perjuring himself.

More likely he will play the role of the poor dumb schmuck, who was duped by the very people he trusted. Outside the courtroom he will be busy trying to sell a bridge to anyone who will buy it.

Strange, but when I heard Baroni say that I heard Billy Joel singing it.

Because I am an innocent man
Oh yes I am
