Discussion for article #235106
Have you ever noticed how everything is BREAKING NEWS on MSNBC?
It’s not just MSNBC…it’s CNN, FOX, etc. At this point, Breaking News, Exclusive, etc have no meaning because they’ve been trampled into the ground by elephants.
Matthews is correct.
They played the stupid ad for free, and gave the wingnuts attention they shouldn’t get.
Good on Matthews, he has finally awakened to the perfidious nature of the republicans in every thing they espouse.
Every once and a while he does get it right.
Shouldn’t someone clue in stupid that he’s a goddamned rightwing of the worst goddamned rightwing stripe? Didn’t he get the goddamned memo? Goddamn!
I don’t care what anyone says, Tweety’s alright with me.
No one, other than Sharpton, has been more dogged in exposing the GOP’s attempts to disenfranchise minority and young voters than Chris Matthews. He’s been tougher than just about anyone in speaking out against the GOP’s racism aimed at the president and minorities in general. No one has been tougher on Reince Preibus than Matthews. When he’s wrong he’s fantastically wrong and I want to throw large objects at the TV, but when he’s right he’s on fire.
Me too.
He’s right, hawkish right wing front groups run these ads. It’s not included in this clip but Matthews went on to suggest they find out the names of the people who contribute to the Foundation for a Secure and Prosperous America but that would be to close to journalism.
“Foundation for a Secure and Prosperous America”? Are they Walker or Cruz supporters?
They are far better than any alternative
So’s y’all know: “Foundation for a Secure and Prosperous America” is an astroturf front group for the people that brought us Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, and seems to be run out of Stevens Reed Curcio & Potholm, a right-wing PR firm in the DC area. The TPM article would be more helpful & informative if it included that context for Tweety’s outburst, since he most certainly knows that background.
I agree Plucky. I am a huge fan of Sharpton even though most people here haven’t been able to get over the Tawana Brawley case. He has since admitted he was wrong but then so was the FBI. Sharpton has grown tremendously over the years but he is a steadfast activist and I admire it for that Mostly I don’t like Matthews but then sometimes he’s right on. He’s a very conflicted guy
Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
The problems I have with Tweety aren’t that he isn’t a supporter of minorities or (occasionally) the President. The issue I have with him is the mercurial amnesia he seems to develop, and then go on these cranky old man rants like he did today at Roberts.
Who is going to take you seriously when you’re the progressive John McCain, constantly barking at everyone to get off your goddamn lawn?
Also…he’s developed a considerable amount of amnesia about who actually owns his network these days. Does he actually think these ads show up for free, even when being discussed on the various shows? Is he oblivious to the tentacles of his Comcast overlord?
I’m thinking that his wife must be running as a Democrat. I’ve never seen him so appropriately passionate. I’ve seen him INappropriately passionate about things – like when he got that “tingle” down his leg. I think his wife has the brains in the family, and he knows he needs to behave.
They announced that they will stop leaning forward and begin bending backward several weeks ago when they canned Rowan Sinatra and Joy Reid.
Thomas Roberts show stinks bad.
They have also begun to bring on more and more rightwingers…
Chris is NOT HAPPY about this change…
I remember when Phil Griffin said " we don’t do " breaking news ", we leave that to CNN. Now I cannot see the difference in those two networks…
They have become a mirror image of CNN…it is disgusting
Ron Christie started Chris on this tirade and I can understand his attitude,.
“Chris Matthews did what few journalists do these days. He immediately
slammed a politician spewing misleading and false talking points. This
is important because political talking points have a tendency to
metastasize into a new reality after they are repeated over and over and
broadcast by a generally willfully incompetent traditional mainstream
media.
Republican spokesperson Ron Christie and Democratic spokesperson David Axelrod appeared on Chris Matthew’s Hardball to discuss President Obama’s historic agreement with Iran.
David Axelrod stated that the punishing sanctions imposed on Iran by
President Obama was responsible for bringing Iran to the table. Axelrod
said that the agreement if realized will help America avoid a military
conflict with Iran.”
“Foundation for a Secure and Prosperous America”?
On the same day Paul declared his candidacy for the presidency, the Foundation for a Secure and Prosperous America, a 501©4 group led by the strategist behind the Swiftboat Veterans for Truth campaign against John Kerry, released an ad that will play in several early-primary states tying him to President Obama’s Iran policies:
