A rational person recognizes that the opposition party isn’t all wrong, all of the time. It can’t be. It’s important to delineate between rational and irrational people by simply recognizing when you are in agreement… even if it is with someone who normally expresses absolute madness.
I applaud Chris’s recognition of this.

I do think it’s important to acknowledge when an idealogical opponent shares common ground with you as a tool to help reach that clearheaded debate. Now if her (assumed) answer after the clearheaded debate wasn’t “BENGHAZI!” or “HUSSEIN OBAMA!”, her comments would mean so much more.

Chis Hayes’ kudos [1] to Laura Ingraham is, I agree, graciously acknowledging the “opposition” when views coincide. However, why should a kudos be deemed necessary? It’s like congratulating someone for acknowledging that she is a mammal and has a four-chambered heart.

But then how will the propagandists at FOX keep every one of their viewers terrified enough to vote against their own best interests for the rest of eternity? I was in the ER the other night and they had FOX news on the TV, and literally they were saying an attack on the “homeland” from ISIS was imminent. Like will happen any second. I had to get out my phone and check all the news sites to see if I had missed something. Nope, just FOX scaring the bejeesus out of everybody.
I’m willing to quietly acknowledge that what she said is rare, for her ilk, and helpful. Those videos are so luridly sick that it’s a counterintuitive challenge to react rationally. And if someone on the right just once suggests you should anyway, it’s a good thing. She’ll be awful the other 23 hours of the day I’m sure, but just this once, good for her.
