Discussion: Chris Hayes Grills Sharyl Attkisson On Hacking Claims: 'Who Is The They?' (VIDEO)

Discussion for article #229960

Any publicity is good publicity, right, Sharyl? How’s the career going?

I watched this interview, and Hayes really was masterful. He never made it seem like he didn’t believe her, and really gave her every opportunity to explain where she was coming from. His skepticism was fair, and he asked some tough questions, and she had some good answers. In the long run though, remote control of a PC isnt that hard…I do it with my Mom’s all the time when she has a problem so its not beyond scope that any hacker could do this.

“One of the things the forensic evidence showed was, although they were monitoring me surreptitiously, they had the ability to operate my computers remotely as if they were sitting in front of it,” she told Hayes. “So I knew that the capability existed. I wouldn’t have known that a year before.”

The forensic evidence you wont show us, that was made by people you wont name.

She never heard of a Trojan before? Or has no concept of remote access?

If a government agency wanted to spy on journalist like that, it would make much more since if they didn’t make the person away they were being watched and use that person to root out any leaks. But no, her claim is that “they” hacked her and purposely showed her they were hacking her to scare her into not criticizing Obama.

It isn’t hard at all, Google chat has a remote access function to it now adays. But her claims hold no water, and she is providing no proof of them.

I could say Sharyl Attkission is stalking me, and hides in my bushes but i don’t think id be able to make a book deal out of it with zero proof.

Beyond this, SA seems to be staking her claim to fame on investigations into pet right wing “scandals,” e.g., Benghazi, F&F and probably the IRS.

I dunno. She has some genuine credibility, but seems to have moved into dubious areas.

Of course this is classic Obama. He’s imposing a tyranny on all of us, starting with his most effective and insightful opponent, a tyranny so subtle and sophisticated you can barely prove it’s there to anyone halfway objective. And he’s doing it very, very slowly so we won’t notice until it’s too late! Oh noes!

That, or she’s a loony.

Yes he is so tyrannical that he allowed republicans to gain even more power in state and federal government.

That discussion was was beyond idiotic, but insightful as to the impossible-to-deal-with nature of right wing paranoia

Since the entire Benghazi! debacle has turned to shit since the perpetrator gave reasons for the attack other than what the right wing claimed, isn’t it rather fucking stupid for “they” to hack/control her computer at any point in time?

Sorry, I’m having a moment with Poe’s Law here.

“pages were wiping in a matter of a couple seconds. It wasn’t sort of backspace key, which doesn’t exist, or a delete key on the computer being held down.”

Ah come on Sharyl…every pc keyboard I have worked with in the last 14 years has a back space key.

I laughed, cringed, and realized how ignorant she really is when she made that statement.

responsible in the micro-sense for being behind the effort, not necessarily the guy sitting behind the keyboard if such a thing exists.

First, always fun when NBC gets back to pretending they are on our side again…
Secondly, Attkisson’s ambiguities include the plural ‘they’ instead, as Chris so artfully pared Cheryl’s apple, the singular ‘he’ which, of course, suggests to the conspiracy-prone suggestible the vast powerful forces a President might unleash on her sad little vaudeville act instead of Cheryl’s real reason to pluralize, a cheap effort to gain unmerited attention and hype book sales.

“I have a list of 23 names…” Hey, it worked for Joseph McCarthy for a while and he got some notoriety, did he not? Ms. Atkinson is playing a similar game to titillate a gullible group of potential book buyers. Even so, her claim to the national spotlight will be very short because nobody really cares and the life of her book is predicated on continued media appearances, which will be ending soon.

“Well, therein lies the question. I think that that’s a large part of what the computer forensics investigation is aiming toward and what we’re trying to look at.”

CSI: Benghazi!!!

Why would a “hacker” edit the documents as her video shows? It’s absurd. Delete, copy, etc a file, brick her laptop, but the video show lines being deleted in an open document like it’s her copy editor.
Your 15 minutes are up, Sharyl. Or is this the networks milking her for reality-show train wreck value?

There are more holes in her story than in a window screen.

No, she has none. She outright lied in her ‘report’ for 60 Minutes on Benghazi. She should be dumped by television.

This claim of government hacking her is a) to keep up the fantasy that Obama has an ‘enemies’ list (whereas he is perhaps the least paranoid president in recent history) and b) to keep her job, by claiming ‘they’ are against her.

She’s dreck.

Well now that she’s been fired from CBS, I think her audition for Faux News went quite well. She should be spouting Murdoch crap within the week.

Seriously, after spouting that crap how can she call herself a journalist? Of course she may have gotten her degree from someplace like Liberty University.
