Discussion for article #235281

You tell em, Governor Fatso!

There are no bridges in Social Security, right?

Just indict the fucker already. I don’t want to read another fucking thing about him until they do. He’s toast, and I don’t mean milquetoast. He’s the only one that hasn’t figured it out yet.

Love to see him wrapping his lips around that third rail.

Means-testing Social Security is a loser, for one very simple reason. It rewards those who didn’t plan properly for their own retirements, and punishes those who were thrifty and are now enjoying the income from careful investing. Do we really want to encourage people to be spendthrifts when they’re younger?

And of course, Social Security is a pension. It’s not actually “insurance,” payable only if you suffer a loss.

Eliminate the earnings cap on FICA, and the “problem” goes away.

But let’s not cut the defense budget. No, we’ve got lots of money for that. And wars. Money for wars. And oil and farm subsidies. We’ve got loads of money for that. And let’s ignore the fact that GE paid no taxes last year at all. Let’s for sure not have an “honest conversation” about how the law got so perverted that giant corporations can make money hand over fist and pay nothing to the tax man for it.

Is this some kind of last-ditch, desperate attempt to get attention from the right-wing base or donors? Well, what he’s selling, we aren’t buying.

Chrispy Creme is from the Pete Peterson wing of the GOP, as are they all to an ever increasing degree. No news in his proposal, or the lies that are built up in making the case for why its needed either. Its the prototypical deficit-scold the rightwing trickle-down folks have been using for decades…all based on invented numbers and phony economic models, proven wrong time after time. Time for more drowning in the bathtub…the answer is always the same…who’s gonna get their feet wet first. Its never the corporate welfare guys, to be sure. They’ll stay dirty as sin, till the chickens come home to roost.

Meh.

We have a sovereign reserve currency and a printing press.

Anyone who tells you we have to cut Social Security benefits is flaming moron and/or a lair looking to pick your pocket.

Come back when you’ve made the required payments to the New Jersey retirement fund, as the court has ordered.

First things first Gov, how about going after the trillions of dollars in corporate profits stashed in off shore tax havens. The taxes collected from those trillions could be the solution to your budget concerns Gov.

How about we just go for a Bingo card or a checklist for all these pricks? You know they’re going to all say the same thing.

  1. “Reform” Social Security
  2. Deny Climate Change
  3. Increase Military Spending
  4. Take Harder Line With Iran
  5. Slavishly Obey Israel
  6. Privatize Everything
  7. Demolish Public Education
  8. DRILLDRILLDRILLDRILL

I miss any of the obvious?

I doubt it. Like Walker he’ll skate just fine. There’s no interest from anyone who matters in indicting these people.

“eliminate benefits for those making $200,000 or more.”

In other words, the deliberate first step in giving people the argument that it’s grossly unfair for them to have to pay into it in the first place.

Awww…but that’s too easy!

Making Social Security crappier isn’t saving it from ruin.

Proposing changes designed to make wealthy taxpayers view Social Security as a welfare program is a deliberate effort to kill Social Security.

Robert Mercer is the co-CEO of Renaissance Technologies, a hedge fund, who owes the IRS $6 billion. He’s donated $31 million to Cruz because Cruz is promising to abolish the IRS. See how it works?
