Discussion for article #230193
So if he gets indicted he gets fired. If not he gets reinstated. Duh. How is this a news story?
Sounds like the fix is in
Oh please, so the Grand Jury is being paid off, and all the testimony and evidence has been staged? Also DOJ is now “in on it” too. One big “gubbermint” conspiracy, right?.. Give it a rest please.
Chief, my hope through all of this is that the majority population of Ferguson uses this as a teachable moment, get their act together and take their town back! Then, they can commence to replace all you MFs who have screwed them over. Problem solved. Goodness knows they can’t do any worse.
Why do people repeatedly take the time to read a news story, then complain that somehow it isn’t worthy of being news?
IMMEDIATE reinstatement is the issue here…it will strike some protestors as an “in-your-face” move.
Personally, I think that even if he’s found innocent and as saintly as Mother Teresa, putting him on the beat, in that town, NOW…
is just asking for trouble. Someone is likely to think they’ll be hailed as a righteous avenger for harming Wilson.
Seems like a bad plan. (but still news)
IMMEDIATE reinstatement is the issue here…it will strike some protestors as an “in-your-face” move.
“In your face” has nothing to do with it. If Officer Wilson is not indicted, it will be time for the protesters to stand down and go home, or be rounded up by the police and sent to jail.
Perception is in many cases not reality, especially when you are acting out as part of a racially motivated, lynch mob frenzy. And in the case that Officer Wilson is not indicted, I hope we can count on Attorney General Holder to play the race card on behalf of justice in this case, and tell the protesters that it is time to stand down and let this end peacefully.
If Wilson is indicted, he should certainly not be re-instated, and if he is convicted, he should certainly be fired and also sent to jail. But to punish this man based solely on media hype (if he is not even indicted) and the demands of a what is effectively a media-enabled and nurtured lynch mob is unjust and therefore just plain wrong.
Brown was shot nowhere near the patrol car. He may have attacked or attempted to attack Wilson inside the car (but this is not a provable fact) but that has nothing to with the fact that Wilson shot him when several witnesses claimed he had his hands up in the air. Please educate yourself so you avoid looking like a fool
Hodnoshitburnerbeej became enraged with hatred after coming home stinking from the bars, and then vomited up his racist, hate-filled “thoughts” here, in the TPM comment strings. BTW, You’re the only thug around here.
Holder has not really played race cards either way. In the Trayvon Martin case, DOJ investigated to see if race was an issue, and determined that it was not a factor, in fact it was found that Zimmerman helped out a lot of blacks, and was on tape at a protest speaking out against police in the beating of a black homeless man. So no charges were filed.
What has to happen here if Wilson is not indicted is for people like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson to call for no protests. Holder doing it won’t mean squat to the protesters, plenty of radical blacks already call him an Uncle Tom.
If protesters view it as “in your face” because a cop gets his job back, they are just wrong. And if as you say someone really wants to kill Wilson, what difference does it make if Wilson is in uniform or not?
Maybe if it is shown the shooting was totally justified (and I am saying “if”), it’s time for protest leaders like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson to step up to the plate and say “we were wrong in this case, so there should be no protests”. THAT is what needs to happen in such a scenario. There have been a lot of people in leadership positions who have gone WAY overboard in the condemnation of Officer Wilson without knowing the facts. They need to learn a lesson. Analyze facts and evidence, don’t assume . If facts and evidence are on your side, THEN protest. But the reality is that if facts and evidence are on the side of Michael Brown, Wilson will be indicted. So there is not even a need for protests at this point. This case was always going to the Grand Jury. And let’s see what they say, and what the actual evidence is. Not some media nonsense that stirs up a mob with bias from both sides.
Wilson pursued Brown, so obviously he was not shot near the car. Reports are that blood spatters and shell casings indicate Brown was moving toward Wilson, but those are reports so at this point who knows. I’d prefer to wait for the facts before judging what happened. Why do you act like you know exactly what happened if you were not there? Oh, some of those same witnesses you cite also said Brown was shot in the back while running away. Turns out that was 100% wrong. WaPo reports there are 6 black witnesses who testified and backed up Wilson’s account, but are afraid to go public due to the media frenzy and protesters. Is that true? Maybe. Maybe not. But don’t you think we should at least wait until all of this comes out?
“But to punish this man based solely on media hype”
The media did not shoot someone several times, at close and long range. Officer Wilson did. Regardless of whether or not he at any time thought he was in “danger” (although he was the only one with a gun), he should be thoroughly psychologically evaluated before being allowed to possess a gun ever again.
So you are saying that if for any reason the grand jury does not indict Wilson, the people of Ferguson should just stand by, or better yet hide in their homes, and continue to be afraid of the very people they pay taxes to that are supposed to be protecting them???
Get real will you? Better yet, get educated on the history of racial issues in this country.
