I think Roberts’ decision is very simple. He just asks himself the question, " is there an adverse financial impact to my corporate friends?"
That’s how he decides everything.

I hope they peppered the SCROTUS brief with “corporate”: noun, verb and adjective.
After all it’s the only term the partisan, excretable appointee-for-life responds to.
If he asks himself that, he won’t issue a stay pending appeal. Corporate America supports equality for gays.

Roberts’s hubris could screw the pooch on the image that SCROTUS is trying to build. What the Teabaggers on the court were doing, was in effect throwing us a bone to pacify us. Look at it this way. The Fugged-up Four’s allegiance isn’t really to the religious right. It’s to their corporate masters.
Sooo, do the Justices really care who marries whom, as long as we make that long ass commute every day and don’t organize, in constant fear for our crappy jobs? No. They wink the eye at marriage equality in order to look more liberal, all the while moving us closer to total corporate personhood and a completely deregulated business environment.
But now? If Roberts allows his own religious views to affect that narrative, the truth may be out.
Roberts and his old farts know nothing about civil rights
The fact that so far not one court, federal, state, district or appellate has ruled against same sex marriage should begin to carry some weight with these justices, especially Roberts and Kennedy. But politics seems to carry much more weight in Roberts’ court than civil rights and human rights, so I expect our sisters and brothers in VA will have to wait yet a while longer before their right to marry is recognized. Thankfully, I and my husband were able to marry in New York on July 24, 2011 – though now we live in FL and our marriage is not recognized by the state. The excre-bile government of this state still plays games with people’s lives, so we must wait like our brothers and sisters in VA for the SCOTUS sitting in full to haul our civil rights over the finish line for all gay citizens of this country. So we know how you are feeling in VA this week. Roberts be damned!
