The CTU is the kind of union that destroys any sympathy for unions that neutral persons still retain. They are striking to “get attention”. Next they will just plain old strike for higher pay, although they got a pretty hefty raise 3 years ago, which led DIRECTLY to a whole buncha schools closings. The system is very non-functional, and the teachers union is doing their best to cut the legs out from under the system. Chicago has the distinction as the #1 big city for people leaving. If you were a middle-class professional, would you put your kids in this system? I sure would not, and my great-grandfather was a principle in one of the Chicago high schools some time back.
