Yes, fire them. But they should be prosecuted for filing a false police report just like an average citizen. In this case I believe filing a false police report would constitute a felony.

Prosceute the cops for perjury, strip them of their pension rights and make them pay as much of the settlement the city had to pay as is possible. If this requires making them sell all assets and putting thier families on the street while they are doing time in prison so be it.
It is about time that the “Broken Windows” and “Zero Tolerance” stragagies of enforcement are applied inside the station/ precinct houses. the department as a whole and each officer.
If this theory is so “successful” then it would save the cities from paying out any settlements by immediate, dracian, and certain punishments for the police.
