I don’t think it’s ever happened before at all, let alone to this extent. The commonly accepted practice was to keep your mouth shut about your successor. I think Truman calledNixon a liar in private, but IIRC that was about his time in the Senate. It’s a good indicator of 1)the completely insane hatred of Obama all R’s seem afflicted with and 2)Cheney’s complete lack of redeeming qualities of any kind.
