Discussion for article #230950
He’d do it all over again? I though W. was president at the time? Also, can anyone explain to me why this terror report release will make American’s less safe? Will ISIL be more likely to decapitate Americans because the fact that we tortured “enemy combatants” is now being acknowledged in an official document?
Tortures, such as waterboarding, were designed by diabolical regimes to extract confessions from people who didn’t commit the crimes. The tortures are not designed to find out truths or facts. They are designed to break people down–so far down they’ll choose being a scapegoat over enduring more torture.
According to John McCain, we executed captured Japanese officers for waterboarding US prisoners.
“I think that’s all a bunch of hooey."
Dick’s getting senile. The bunch of hooey was the so called “intelligence” that supported weapons of mass destruction. Now THAT was HOOEY.
Dick Cheney lives in his own perverted universe. I say let him rot there. He’s best ignored, as we move away from the dark horror that was the Bush administration.
Today Republicans will be trying to use Obamacare to distract us from Torturer-in-Chief and his Dick?
Thank you Prince of Darkness, for admitting what we already knew, that you and Bush not only knew about this illegal torture, but ordered it. The two of you ought to shut the eff up and disappear, but then again, the more you monsters talk, the more America is reminded why not a one of your GOTP friends should ever be given the chance to be President in 2016. The more baby Bush gets his ugly face on TV, the more people are reminded that NEVER AGAIN should any man named Bush be sitting in that Oval Office.
Sad thing is Cheney doesn’t need to read it. He ordered it.
He is into Torture Porn…bed time reading…and probably viewing as well.
This just sounds like he knows that whatever is in it is probably pretty damning and/or horrific. I’d say it’s preemptive damage control, but coming from somebody who lacks a human soul or a conscience, he’s obviously taking some pride in it. So when this report is released, and if it does contain some pretty extreme brutality, just remind yourself that Dick Cheney is not only proud of it, he believes the people who committed the torture should receive a medal.
The most important revelation in the report, according to the BBC, is that TORTURE DIDN’T WORK. That’s right, no useful information was obtained, as opposed to standard methods, such as infiltration by informants, which yielded quite a bit of useful information.
If torture were really effective, wouldn’t the Nazis and Japanese have won the war, rather than losing?
Just more rewriting of history to the way Dick wants people to think it happened. Facts be damned,
Here is an interesting op-ed arguing for Obama to pardon Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, et. al., as the only way that our country will ever acknowledge that crimes were in fact committed.
“Cheney Hasn’t Read Torture Report, But He’s Criticizing It Anyway”
Meh…par for the course. For example:
[Insert conservative politician] Hasn’t Read the Bible, But He’s Pimping It Anyway
Oh, and TPM, please…the only thing Darth Cheney could possibly do at this point that I want to hear about is die…so let’s keep this to a bare minimum, k?
This evil creep will forever be reviled.
Waterboard that mofo
Not surprising since no one in the Bush Administration was every keen on reading reports.
Anyone surprised by this? Cheney, and the rest of the GOP, has made a habit of criticizing BEFORE reading. Romney criticized an Obama speech without reading it, and before Obama gave it. How many times have pundits criticized Obama’s actions BEFORE he did anything? This is how the Republican Party does things, and in this case Cheney knows there’s nothing in a released torture report that will be good news for him and Bush.
Of course he’d do it all over again. He got hours and hours and hours of pleasure wanking to the tapes of those torture sessions he kept in that safe.
