Amen. Who cares. They pay Scarborough and that idiot sidekick more than that

$600,000?

She must be dead broke.

As usual, words of wisdom from LGB. xxxooo

Chelsea made more off of Whitewater (in which she was the actual ringleader). But most of her earnings come from when she assassinated Vince Foster.

Meh. Is this click-bait? Probably. Is this an attack on the Clintons? Nah. Did she get the gig because of who her parents are? Of course. Will she live her entire life in her parents’ shadow? Sadly, yes.

Best to have these non-news news tidbits out there as soon as possible. If repubs complain, they look petty. If they wait to attack when/if HRC is the nominee, this is ā€œoldā€ news.

Meri, I reread the article, and I think Mr. Strauss admirably avoids any innuendo, and just lays out the facts of her compensation and the work, as measured in bylines, that she performed for it. I’m as partisan as the next guy, but it is what it is.

I think she Looper’d Obama’s Granny to keep her from talking, too.

I don’t have any particular love for the Clintons. But I can’t see it as anything other than ā€œhere’s another reason to dislike the Clintons!!!ā€.

Anyone trying to play it off as a clever statement on the 1% vs the 99% isn’t even faking thinking things through.

Drudge sighted at NBA game?
Chelsea Clinton made how much at NBC?
Hillary ā€œjabsā€ Terry Gross?
Puckett ā€œunwittinglyā€ helps VA GOP?

Josh, if this is what I can expect from TPM, tell me again why should I subscribe?

Their reporters are taking a break from ā€œreportingā€ to work the phone banks!

Another 50 Prime members and there will be a performance by Charro!

There is a feeling in this country, on the right and the left, that the system is rigged by the 1% (or whatever percentage you fancy) for their benefit at the expense of the rest of us. When you look at things from lower taxes on capital gains vs. earned income; to the cap on pay-in to social security; to legacy admissions at universities; to differences in criminal sentencing, public schools, etc.; it’s hard not to agree. When one reads of such sweetheart deals unattainable to all but the most elite among us, it seems natural enough to me to be resentful, no matter what the political persuasion of the recipient of the ā€œlargesseā€.

TPM later corrected the Puckett headline to ā€œsingle handedly.ā€ But the rest accurate.

I’ve always thought of her as a trophy pundit.

I’m not disagreeing with you. And a well thought out piece on that, with more than one example, would by a very good thing.

But whatever this article is supposed to be isn’t it. Not even close.

I find it odd that anyone imagines that mentioning children of Republicans who also got sweetheart deals due to their parents changes anything, in that I can’t remember any liberals defending that either. Would you people be saying this same stuff if the article was about Bristol Palin? Doubtful.

Now most likely, they hired her just for the ratings, which is sad seeing as how I can’t see Chelsea being a huge draw of any audience. And so if that was the intent, some NBC exec is overpaid as well, as they clearly don’t understand how this works. And really, I’d like to know if this is standard money for ANYONE to get doing her level of work, as that’d be the only real problem. Sure, people can point to Joe Scarborough getting more money, but he hosts his own show; while Chelsea was just a special correspondent. So those aren’t comparable jobs.

And beyond that, I find it troubling how many people imagine this is an anti-Hillary story. Seriously, there isn’t even a hint of that at all. But somehow, people are overly sensitive to any story that doesn’t praise the Clintons, as it can only have nefarious purposes otherwise. And that’s my biggest problem with the Clintons, in that that’s their attitude as well. If you’re not with them, you’re against them; which is why the 90’s were so full of battle zones, because that’s how the Clintons see everything. And for as much as people claim that Obama gets treated roughly, this is nothing compared with how they were in the 90’s, where Republicans not only screamed about everything the Clintons did, but succeeded in turning everything into an endless investigation; many of which continued even after Bill left office. And that was mainly due to the Clintons anti-media bunker mentality, that only made things worse for them. I mean, heck. Bill couldn’t even answer a simple question about smoking pot without being successfully ridiculed for it for years. And that was typical of the Clintons, who were always too clever by half.

And that’s exactly where things look like they’re heading now, which is why I’m sooooo hoping Biden can claim the nomination. If only because he knows how to laugh off his attackers, rather than taking everything personally and heading for the bunker every time someone is mean to him.

Come on, people, learning that a presidential candidate’s daughter was getting $600K a year from a national news network is certainly newsworthy. And I say good for her.

Has she released her birth certificate yet? I’m talking about the long-form.

It’s what our celebrity news based market will bear.
