Discussion: Charlie Crist Wants Another Obama Campaign Trail Hug

Discussion for article #226640

I’ve really been impressed with Crist; he seems very aggressive in how he’s campaigning. I don’t remember that from last time (when he was running for the Senate seat)

Good for him saying he wouldn’t mind Pres. Obama campaigning for him. Headline is misleading though - Crist did not say anything about hiugs.

Oh no!
Is this the first article to feature the poll tracker? My heart dropped when I saw it. I’m not ready for this ride.

I always have been. I have a lot of respect for the guy

And,I don’t blame him for wanting a hug from our wonderful President
Misleading headline at TPMZ. No way!!! Surely you jest

Seriously, Christ is losing to Scott? What the hell Florida?

2010 was a brutal year for Crist. The Tea Party was ascendant, his Obama hug was marked as a Judas kiss, and he was in a three-way race for Senator with Marco Rubio and Kendrick Meek, an African American Congressman from Miami.
In his final year as governor, the Florida Republican Legislators, enraged by the hug, were in open rebellion against him. (Even though Republican governors across the country were similarly desirous of the stimulus funds to balance their budgets.)
There was no way he could gain traction in 2010.

For a Republican, Crist was a breath of fresh air coming after Jeb Bush, who ruled with an iron fist. I knew Democrats that endorsed Crist for governor in 2006.
Also, it’s refreshing to see someone not shrink away from Obama. He could teach some of these life-long Democrats a lesson about courage of convictions and loyalty.

Ah yes, I remember that. I was so angry. I think Crist had a better chance than Meeks, therefore I was hoping Meeks would drop out. But of course he didn’t and…well…FL got Rubio.

How does Scott even have a chance, let a lone a small lead?

Co-sign to your second graf. It’s easy and pleasant and amusing, deep down, to point out GOP intransigence regarding the Obama agenda, but it’s not at all pleasurable to recall that, to varying degrees, Democrats have not been as supportive as they could/should have been, either. For me, at least, that’s even more maddening than GOP resistance.

Buckle up!

Just try to ignore it and think soothing thoughts…
