Discussion: Charles Koch: ‘You’d Think We Could Have More Influence’ on 2016 Race

If I may.

All ®s know they are all grifters.
What else did they expect?

He doesn’t seem to be arguing that it’s not possible to completely subvert our democratic principles with a few bags of cash, rather it’s not as easy as he would like it to be.

Considering they have had associations with Raphael Cruz since the 90’s and Cruz is slated to win the Iowa Bribe-o-Rama contest there

they are not doing too shabby

So ridiculously spot on! Citizens United stands to wreak far more havoc for Republicans than Democrats. Before CU they could control the crazy, starve the beast of funds it needed to sustain itself. They can’t do that anymore. The beauty of the McCain-Feingold/pre CU days was that they could sell all the crazy they wanted to the base. They could dog whistle, wink wink, nudge nudge, and then only fund candidates who would toe the line and appear respectable/reasonable in public. Not anymore. The crazies can now find one or two billionaire benefactors who’ll back their campaign and that’s all they need to launch a successful campaign.

Koch: Dammit, I bought a billion dollars worth of candidates, and they’re STILL not dancing to my tune!

The rich Idiots never considered that HRC would have been more compliant with their plans for America.

I think he was thinking of the old Coke commercial instead: “I’d like to buy the world [for] a Koch.”

Only things besides that bit more candor that Koch’s Lament needed was some appropriate musical accompaniment.

Plus, he wanted to keep it all on the down-low, not get all this negative publicity for his corruption. Sigh … now he’ll have to buy up the media too. This is getting expensive!

Not only launch a campaign, but sustain it well beyond its freshness date.

It’s hard out there for a pimp

At least they have the flower they nurtured from a seed to being Speaker of the House there - all they had to do was to get rid of an orange tree to do it

“Koch said that Trump’s proposal of a ban on Muslim immigration would “destroy our free society” and knocked Cruz’s suggestion that the U.S. combat the threat of terrorist groups like the Islamic State by carpet-bombing swaths of territory in the Middle East.”

Jesus fuck! They’ve gone so far off the deep end that they’ve made the Kochs start sounding reasonable??? WHAT. THE. FUCK.

he expressed particular distaste for Republican frontrunners Donald Trump and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX). Koch said that Trump’s proposal of a ban on Muslim immigration would “destroy our free society” and knocked Cruz’s suggestion that the U.S. combat the threat of terrorist groups like the Islamic State by carpet-bomb

I call bullshit. I don’t doubt he isn’t a fan of Trump or Cruz, but this cannot be the reason. Since when did he become such a soft-hearted Progressive? Much more likely he doesn’t get tax breaks or rthe right to piss in our water and air.

They don’t know “maxims of war” because every single one of them is a war-mongering chickenhawk (and no, Lindsey’s JAG service doesn’t count).

Anyone that believes a fucking word that comes out of this Oligarch’s mouth is, however you want to put it, fooling themselves. The Kochs only come out of their den of thieves and dark-money pit whenever they see their tactic isn’t catching on or is working against them, while trying to publicly disavow their involvement somehow. They did this same bit not to long ago too. Another rare occurrence.

They’ve spent the last 7 years of the Obama administration in the shadows, sweeping up local, county, and state down-ballot elections and using ALEC to provide them with the rest of their agenda. They are not going away. In fact, just as an aside, more public fracking and drilling is now being done on public lands then was ever done during the Bush administration…but you’d never know that listening to them or their paid sycophants.

Pretending that all the Republican candidates are “their own man” unwilling to give into these fuckers ideas is a ruse. Yeah, the Koch’s dislike tRump, but all the other candidates are easily bought with the right incentive…$$$$$.

If you think they’re gonna tell the public now or even later, which one they have their eyes on, with all the negative national publicity that would hit them in a general election…I’m sure I can find some lovely swampland to sell you.

[Koch said in November that he planned to refrain from endorsing any individual candidate, and his view of the field seems to have soured further since then.

“It is hard for me to get a high level of enthusiasm because the things I’m passionate about and I think this country urgently needs aren’t being addressed,” he said.]

The Kochs (Murdoch is another one) are part of the arguments many skeptics throw out when questioning people of faith who believe in the concept of Karma.

I find myself wondering about the heirs to the Koch fortune and if they are likely to continue this habit of contributing amounts about equal to the GNP of small countries to political (lately futile) campaigns or if they will prefer to keep the money in the old oak chest, or — imagine it — try to do some good with it.
