Good grief talk about living up to your avatar.

At least they were saved.

Good for Sir Charles. I love the fact that he thinks his job requires him to stand up to discrimination in any form. I wish more broadcasters thought the same.

I calls it like I sees it…myself included…

For how long? You are talking about Georgia here.

Sir Charles!!! ___ I was about to go with the somewhat flawed logic of : “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.” …when my wife walked by and said, “What if your enemy is his own worst enemy? Hmmmm…ever think of that?”

aaaaaaaaaaaand…now I have a headache.

He is an Independent. He quit the Republican party a long time ago because he said they had lost their minds. He also supported Obama for President.

He has said the Republicans are full of it, and the Democrats are less full of it. That’s a pretty accurate statement.

I’m glad he’s using his platform to speak out…especially when he’s on the correct side of an issue.

I wish Michael Jordan would speak out on issues important to him sometimes.

I think his licensing agreements are most important to him, and he needs to stay neutral so he can get the biggest market share.

OTH it seems the athletes at Missouri made a differnce by saying no.

I don’t worship the guy, but I agree with most of his political views. What specifically is it that you have in issue with on him?

You’re most definitely correct, but what’s one more dollar to a guy who has billions?

I mean, if he can’t speak up, then who can? I’d admire him more if he used his power and prestige to help others than worry about more dollars. His lifestyle won’t change one iota.

BTW: It’s just damned sickening that these RedStates__ with the poorest, sickest, least educated people in the nation living there___ eschew aggressive policies to help lift their people from poverty, to give them better educations and provide the means to make them healthier…BUT no matter is too small or too insignificant for endless work and legislation when it comes to ‘potty politics’, a woman’s personal choices in her own family, or endless attempts to foist their narrow and repressive religious views on everyone else.
As ignorant and unhealthy (two qualities that obviously work well for the Republican Cult) as so many in their populace are, one would think that, eventually, the voters would, in an age of such immediate social interaction nationwide, rise up and vote these corporate whores and theocratic Mullahs for Jesus out of office.
How sad and puzzling to see the legions of poor and ignorant people line up behind the very people who keep them that way, and all following the dog whistles of the Right Wingnuttery out of fear of “Those People” and Benghazi and emails. Damned sickening indeed.

Michael Jordan built a 56,000 SF mansion and has a private jet with an Air Jordan label on it. A “personalized” private plane

A lot of ego. Oh, he has donated to many good causes for sure. But he does not take political stances, for him it’s all about the merchandising and having everyone love him. Ego.

Barkley on the other hand has the balls to speak out.

Barkley had been outspoken in favor of gay marriage since 2006 (and I don’t recall him speaking out against it before then unless you can cite that?). That’s well before Obama took that stance. So how would you classify Obama’s change in position?

I’m surprised - and I shouldn’t be by now - that there are people here who want to shoot the messenger who is bringing a great message.

SMH

He’s a pubic figure (and a half, really) a celebrity and a lot of people enjoy him because he’s outspoken. He just spoke out in favor of LBGT rights. So what if he has a private jet and a mansion? (which he likely paid for with gambling wins, which is also neither here nor there.) What does it matter if he has a big ego - how does that affect what he said?

hahahahahaha what argument is there really about this besides none? hahahahaha

I think you mistook my comment as a reference to Barkley. Read the whole thread, I was talking about Michael Jordan in response to a person who rightfully questioned why Jordan does not speak out. I edited the comment to make that clear.

Agree with you about other people shooting the messenger, I have no idea why they are trashing Barkely. He has LONG been an outspoken advocate of gay marriage (well before Obama or Hillary).

Your use of pejoratives makes you what you call Charles Barkley.

You’re right - you were talking about Jordan and I was mistaken about the plane and the house. Sorry!!

It was the general tenor of the argument that was going on that I was talking about – I should have been more careful where I scrolled hurriedly and pulled words.

Basically I just found the couple of other comments dissing Barkley to be funny and I was careless.

I don’t blame you for seeing it as such when initially viewing it, sometimes they don’t show it as a reply to another comment, I’ve done a similar thing before. That’s why I went back and put Jordan’s name in there to clarify my comment.
