Discussion: Chaffetz Says He's Wants To Review Trump's DC Hotel Lease

Heā€™s hoping there will be some Benghaz!!! emails in the contract.

And seriously? ā€œItā€™ll be interesting to see what they produce and what their take on it is.ā€ Heā€™s basically accusing GSA of lying about the contract, which means heā€™s looking for a way to cover Drumpfā€™s yoooge ass.

Iā€™m a lawyer. I donā€™t read it that way. I read i more as saying ā€˜They say thatā€™s in the lease, but I want to get a copy to confirm before I do anything.ā€™ Judges do that all the time.

Chaffetz is a doily. Heā€™ll review that lease for 30 seconds and come to the foregone conclusion that ā€œItā€™s all good, man!ā€

But while heā€™s sniffing around, perhaps he can wander over to the Constitution and check out Article I, Section 9, Clause 8. Since heā€™ll already be knee deep in that Constitution, he should go ahead and check out the 25th Amendment, Section 4 (but Iā€™d be just fine with Section 1 of same)

I wonder if Republicans are looking for some leverage to use against Trump. I bet he is a lot more active as President than they expected.

the GSA lease specifically says no government employee may hold any part of the lease.

I think they need trump around long enough to be a good fall guy for all of Ryan 's mischief. Once itā€™s trump and the Democrats (for non co-operation)who are to blame for throwing all those people off welfare, the FBI will uncover whatever is needed to depose trump and install pence. Just because Comey helped Trump get elected doesnā€™t mean he wants Trump running the show. mark my words. PEPE will be taken out and Pence installed. The hotel may be all they need.

Or they may just be compiling a file of his misdeeds so that they can either manipulate him or depose him when it becomes expedient.
On the other hand, itā€™s hard to see Chaffetz in a sophisticated scheme of any kind. It isnā€™t like he was all that complex in the way he investigated Hillary Clinton.

For someone with dementia he sure is a peppy little guy, thatā€™s for sure.

Q: Is he more or less coherent at different times of the day? Just wondering, in terms of dementia. Probably he is just a spoiled stupid asshole, butā€¦

My father had dementia before he died. In general, it served to exaggerate already existing traits (unfortunately the negative onesā€“and he was a good person, too, unlike the ā€œpresidentā€). And certainly there was a lot of variance even in the course of a day in terms of how lucid he was. I would expect the same is true of Trump.

Did you happen to read any of the tweets from whistle blower in the white house? (His account seems to have been shut down now.) Some of what he described is way weirder than what you could attribute to a stupid, spoiled assholeā€“like taking credit for the Dow hitting 20K and literally (!) telling people around him to pat him on the back for this great achievement.

Chaffetz: We need to see if there are any Democrats who are benefiting monetarily from Trump properties. They are not allowed to own any debt in various businesses owned by Trump.

[/quote]I had the same experience with my father. And he became pretty good at hiding it when he was confused. Unless you asked a pointed question, and insisted on an answer, it was hard to tell.

No, didnā€™t hear about this. Can you give me a link?

So, why is there a redacted copy of the lease? It would seem that the Public would be entitled to have access to and know every single provision in the lease.

Secondly, why would it be ā€œinteresting to see what they come up with and produce?ā€ Is he implying someone will produce too little, or too much?

I wish I could. Apparently itā€™s been shut down. It was someone claiming to be a mid-level staffer. It certainly sounded legit. Basically what he is describing is total chaos in the White House. Supposedly Priebus had to be talked out of resigning.

"I did request from the [General Services Administration] the full unredacted contract,ā€ Chaffetz told reporters, according to Politico

Is there a redacted version ?

Well, Spicer is clearly falling on his sword on Trumpā€™s orders, repeatedly.
I am pretty certain he wasnā€™t craven like this before the election.
