Don’t worry, this moment of clarity and independent thought from Chaffetz - it will quickly pass, it always does. Glimmer that there is someone inside the gopbot, just as quickly the glimmer passes out of view and he’s back to fulfilling his marching orders.
What Chaffetz is trying to say here is that he’s not sure just how he’s going to be able to provide cover for all the crooks in PeePee’s world. But he’s damn sure gonna try!

Does Trump inserting himself into the now formal legal process involving Michael Flynn given Flynn’s request for immunity constitute obstruction of justice?
Not unless he tried to instruct the DoJ to grant the immunity.
“Suddenly, then there was no case. We didn’t get the information,” [Chaffetz] said of the staffers who received immunity in the Clinton investigation. “Nothing happened to anybody, nor did we get to the final bit of truth.”
Uhhh, that might have been because they were granted immunity. Or maybe, just maybe it was because there was no case there???!!!

You mean, six months ago. During THE VERY CAMPAIGN THAT IS NOW UNDER INVESTIGATION.
Chaffetz says this is not a witch hunt. He should know. He is an expert at presiding over witch hunts.

Chaffetz continued. “A, I don’t think Congress should give him immunity. If there’s an open investigation by the FBI, that should not happen.
That might be the only intelligent thing Chaffetz has said in recent memory. This, along with all the other people “willing to speak to Congress” are looking for congressional Republicans to offer them “immunity” and to muddy the waters of the actual investigation that is taking place in the intelligence community. It’s not at all suspsicious all of them came out in the past two weeks willing to talk.
More like “the creep state”.
Flynn is still on team Trump. I’d wager they’re hoping it goes like this:
A. Flynn offers immunity.
B. Flynn gets granted immunity.
C. Flynn offers misleading information replete with omissions and outright lies.
D. Flynn gets prosecuted for obstruction of justice a la scooter libby.
E. Flynn gets sentence commuted by Trump.
F. Flynn gets a nice Dacha on the Black Sea.
Chaffetz doesn’t want Flynn to receive immunity, because he doesn’t want him to testify. No immunity, no testimony. No testimony, no dirt on Trump. No dirt on Trump, investigation doesn’t go anywhere.
He looks like he’s acting altruistically. He is not.
