In a just, moral world, Chaffetz could be doing the right thing . . . .but I’m still skeptical.
He’s making a desperate attempt to appear less odious to enhance his employment prospects.
The chair and ranking member of the House Oversight Committee on Friday asked the Trump Organization to explain its plans to donate profits from payments made by officials of foreign governments.
No need to wait; I’ll explain the plan now:
- The so-called President declares that he’ll donate profits from payments made by officials of foreign governments to charity.
- Nothing else happens.
The question you need to ask is this one: How does Jason Chaffetz stand to benefit from this?
Interesting that Chaffetz and Cummings together are sending this. Cummings is lending his credibility to it. Must mean he has some level of confidence in it. This is pure speculation but I have a sense there’s been a siren blowing in Washington that says the tsunami is coming and you want to make it to high ground if you can.
This lends credence to the theory/rumor that the FBI has Chaffetz by the short hairs. Because if they have any evidence of him getting a some kind of payment (in goods, services or other) then his only hope is to have at least a tiny claim that he didn’t hold up his end of the bargain.
Or at least keep your personal floatation device at the ready.
He’s probably cleaning up his image. The governorship will be open in Utah in 2020.
Could it be that in his final days in Congress Chaffetz has learned a little about integrity? Nah.
So OT and too lazy to go back the piece on Trump’s 100 days…so did he look at his paycheck stub? That would have his start date on it, and if he disagrees then his next check should be shorted for the discrepancy.
Well now, come on. trump might hold a big ceremony in which a beautiful model holds up a giant-sized replica of a check that no member of the trump organization will never actually write out or donate.
But it’ll look great on TV and all the MSM outlets will play it on a loop.
Does Chaffetz have some problems and he is trying to clean up his image? There is an untold story of his declining to run again and his possible resignation.
Could also be him burnishing his image for the Mormon audience back in Utah who don’t favor Trump – as he eyes running for governor.
Screw the plan to donate profits, that will never happen. If Chaffetz wants to prove himself by doing due diligence, he and Cummings will subpoena Trumps tax records.
I think it’s clear what’s going on here. Chappedass went home and got an earful after he completely abrogated his responsibilities to oversee trump adn his cronies. He had already caved on the “how can I look my daughter in the eye” thing about the puss grabbing, but trump was never popular in Utah and Chappy was caught between a jerk and a hard place. He would lose his goper bona fides if he put the screws to trump and if he did that higher office (Senate, Governor, President) would be out of reach.
This way he can do a little bit of petty shit (like these “donations”) and try to rehabilitate his image by looking tough and non-partisan and then go for Governor. And there’s a good chance that the Utah mor(m)ons will buy it.
If he runs for governor would this action be necessary?
