GOP: Another piece of Good News. Moochers are dying every minute.
Drumpf: Obama slowed the process but I gave it the much-needed boost. Wait for 2018, these numbers will look good.

Life Expectancy In US Declines For Second Year In A Row

Golly, do you think persistent poverty and a lack of universal healthcare and guns have anything to do with it?

Me neither.

This is the same outfit that doesn’t use “science based” or “evidence based” information. How do we know the CDC is right?

Snark aside, this trend is only going to get worse as we deny millions more the opportunity for heath care.

Remember: The was BEFORE der Furor took power. Just imagine how it’s going to dive with him in office.

Of course, if he blunders into war with North Korea, then you’ll REALLY see life expectancy go down. To a few minutes.

With that extra money from my tax cut I can buy me some more opioids, guns and 2-for-one Big Macs.

Someone needs to re-read this report. “Death rates” actually decreased for the second year in a row. Overall, there really has been no change. The definition of a slow news day?

Key findings
Data from the National Vital Statistics System

Life expectancy for the U.S. population in 2016 was 78.6 years, a decrease of 0.1 year from 2015.
The age-adjusted death rate decreased by 0.6% from 733.1 deaths per 100,000 standard population in 2015 to 728.8 in 2016.
Age-specific death rates between 2015 and 2016 increased for younger age groups and decreased for older age groups.
The 10 leading causes of death in 2016 remained the same as in 2015, although unintentional injuries became the third leading cause, while chronic lower respiratory diseases became the fourth.
The infant mortality rate of 587.0 infant deaths per 100,000 live births in 2016 was not significantly different from the 2015 rate.
The 10 leading causes of infant death in 2016 remained the same as in 2015.

The article seems to indicate that much of the decline has to do with an increase in opioid related deaths specifically fentenyl related deaths. Those deaths are in the unintentional injuries category. They are up dramatically in the 25-54 age group. Of course, the opioid epidemic is connected to big pharma marketing prescription pain killers through a very eager group of pushers called Medical Doctors, so, maybe we should hold them accountable.

Actually there are other things as well including poor nutrition, lack of exercise and a lack of quality health care by millions who don’t have access to good quality health plans. Oh, deaths by firearms are up, but most firearms deaths are suicide. Suicide and death by prescription pain killer might be related.

Bottom line, much of the decline is probably preventable. Our life expectancy ought to be closer to the live expectancy enjoyed in the rest of the developed world. .
