Discussion: CDC Director Shuts Down GOP Senator's Immigrant Measles Theory

Discussion for article #233108

As if facts, data and critical thinking will dissuade this assgasket from flogging the “diseased immigrants did it” nativist b.s.

Well, here’s class warfare practiced by the 1%…such idiocy could not be coming from within OUR ranks. It HAS to be from somewhere else.

seems like “filthy, disease-ridden Americans” is a lot more apt than “filthy, disease-ridden Mexicans”.

I am shocked, shocked I tell you to find out the Latin American countries have taken on and controlled measles.

“assured”

did you mean “assuaged”?

Anyhoo…now that Cassidy and the rest have alerted the Teatroll base of the yet more elephants hiding in the strawberry patch, they will believe it true no matter what anyone says to them and there will be no convincing them otherwise.

Sorry, f*ckstick - it’s not the immigrants. It’s US.

Schuchat also assured Cassidy’s doubt that many of the recent cases are stemming from wealthy areas of California.

When did Jenny McCarthy become an immigrant?

Next up: “Can you tell me with 100% certainty that this was not done on purpose as a planned attack by nefarious brown people who snuck into the country through the borders that Obama has deliberately made porous by refusing to enforce our immigration laws?”

I can’t remember where I read it, but Mexico doesn’t fuck around with measles vaccines. They will come to your house and give the kid the vaccine right there if you’re not on time.

I don’t think the writer is using “assured” properly.

More nut-job GOP politi-doctors! As I’ve mentioned in other posts, my oldest Daughter is an infection prevention specialist at a major teaching hospital in the Pacific Northwest. She’s told me that the average M.D. doesn’t know squat about epidemiology and disease geography. This particular charlatan, a “liver specialist,” appears to be no exception.

Funny thing is this guy used to be a Democrat.

Every time I see this guy I hear Matt Foley talking about a van down by the river.

In the GOP every day is a contest to see who can be the most idiotic.

I was just about to post the same thing, but even with that change, I cannot make sense of that penultimate sentence. And I don’t have two hours to sit and listen to the video.

Clearly, his spin will be how the CDC Director dodged his questions and tried to confuse him with facts and data. He’ll be a hometown hero.

Mr. Cassidy is from Louisiana, which has had the second-worst education record in the country for decades.

As a white religious conservative from a former southern state he should be allowed to wallow in ignorance, bigotry and vile xenophobia. It is part of his proud cultural heritage and family upbringing.

There is no need to get all nerdy and fact-based when dealing with a conservative like Cassidy. He should be entitled to his own facts and fabrications. They won’t let facts and reality interfere with their biblical thinking and ignorance.

And to think this guy got through med school. He should have his license to practice revoked.

Ah, this reminds me of Andrew Sulllivan’s late lamented blog. A while ago, he began accumulating what he called “eggcorns”, words that sound right but in fact are the wrong words – as in the Star Spangled Banner, “Jose, can you see?”

Or, it could be a simple malapropism. Anyway, I miss Sullivan already.

I think the spin is, “What are the CDC hiding and why are they protecting the President? We all know that it was them dirty mesicans and filthy mooslim Indonesians!! It’s Chicago Style politics I tells ya - Obummer has something on the head of the CDC!!”

I thought you had to be smart to get into (and pass through) medical school? Where do the Repubs find these dodos who can’t logically analyze a tootsie roll?
