Discussion: CBO: Senate GOP Tax Bill Favors High Earners Over Low Income Taxpayers

Shorter GOP: “The middle class and poor need to get it through their heads that nothing is free and that you only deserve to get things for free once you have so much money you could never spend it all in your lifetime and don’t need anything for free.”

Let me stress this again: DESERVE

Well, there was that massive economic growth that occurred after George W. Bush dramatically reduced taxes on the wealthy.

Oh, wait…

Don’t hold your breath. I’d expect a fully grown hot-pink winged lemur to crawl out my navel singing “Old Gray Mare” before I relied on the MSM to do the journalism necessary to protect the public from the plutocrats that own the MSM.

And don’t forget that everything is AVAILABLE to everyone, whether it’s health care, that new Mercedes, or the round-the-world vacation you’ve been dreaming of. It’s all there, just waiting for you.

Oh, you wanted AFFORDABLE? Sorry, that’s not in our plan.

Yep. GOP economic theory can pretty much be reduced to the following:

Except one hippo gets to have a giant mouth and go first and gets one of your marbles for every marble it managed to get itself.

Technically, it is. Prosperity gospel, trickle-down, or “bootstraps” depending on who they’re trying to win the votes off at any given time. They just keep real quiet about how none of those things actually work in any meaningful way.

The sad thing is that we actually do have data that “a rising tide lifts all boats.” In this case, though, the “rising tide” is the spending of the lower and middle classes. Alas, Republicans don’t believe in this and they have always chosen their belief/philosophy over reality.

And the huge reduction in the deficit after the Reagan cuts.

Republicans have also argued that the CBO’s massive deficit estimates are inaccurate, because they don’t take into account all of the economic growth they claim would result from slashing corporate taxes.

They really need to report this the way they would report “Republicans have also argued that the CBO’s massive deficit estimates are inaccurate, because they don’t take into account that billions of magic freemarket unicorns will descend from the heavens and shit unicorn turds of platinum, silver and gold, and magic freemarket fairies will fart bitcoins out of sheer joy that taxes have been lowered on the rich.”

It would be a little more interesting/telling to see these numbers per capita.

Of course it does, it’s their only shot at not having their donor class leave them to die in the mid-terms

WaPo but don’t expect any in-depth TV coverage. Charts aren’t their thing.
