Discussion for article #232510
It’s Obama’s Fault!
Worst socialist ever.
What do you have to say now gop/bags?
President Obama inherited a 1.4 TRILLION dollar deficit (from the bagger in chief, bushie)
… which is now down to 468 billion.
Who is the best President ever?
This guy!!
I’m sure they’ll say:
“It’s not good enough.”
“Time for a balanced budget amendment to put an end to this wanton over-spending.”
Obama had nothing to do with it!"
“We don’t believe these numbers.”
“Who’s going to rid us of this job-killing over-spender?”
Oh, they’ll say those numbers are just opinion, that special GOP math proves that Obamacare is exploding the deficit and that a deficit that size is a hazard to the very future of the Republic, and that only extreme austerity, and literal public scourging of the poor, the powerless and the elderly to bloody shreds, can save us.
The credit goes to Mitch McTurtle, of course.
The GOP-run senate saves the day, again.
/snark
The only two presidents to balanced a budget in my lifetime where Democrats LBJ,and Clinton. Obama has cut deficit spending by 75%. The last three Republican presidents Bush 41,43,and Reagan increased the deficit dramatically. Why the myth that Republicans are deficit hawks still lingers is beyond me.It has no basis in fact.
The primary long-term fiscal challenges are spending under Social
Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Obamacare and net interest costs, CBO
said.
Or, it could be that the primary long-term fiscal challenges are the declining share of wages subject to social security payroll taxes due to the ceiling on those taxes, the low mrginal income rates on the very wealthy, the gaps in the tax regulations that allow the wealthy to convert earned income into capital gains or to undervalue assets put into Roth IRAs, etc.
And, as such, it will surely be the lead story on Faux, right?
Your gleeful “This guy!!” made me smile. Thanks for that!
Media narrative.
They also push the narrative that the GOP is good on national security in spite of, you know, 9 fucking 11 and Iraq.
Don’t forget the military-industrial-congressional spending that continues to spiral ever upward.
Yep, without the tax cuts for the 1%'ers, we’d be on our way to a balanced budget and close again to paying down the deficit.
And why didn’t Scott Pelle challenge the senate leader on his interview after the state of the union when he said Obama has increased debt by more than all the presidents before him combined?
That’s why the GOP has decided on changing how the CBO does its math. And it can’t come a moment too soon for some of them. All this happy talk is stepping all over their talking points, and their propensity to lie through their fucking teeth.
Dynamic Scoring is almost upon us…Its the New Math!!!
Even though I don’t really consider him to be the greatest president, while I was watching the SOTU I couldn’t help but to think about how I’ll miss him. The next president, no matter who it is, isn’t going to be anything like him at all.
The defense and Homeland Security budgets couldn’t possibly have any slack in them. (The way the CBO’s mission is written, IIRC, they are pretty much just required to look at things as written, and since the DoD doesn’t have statutorily required spending levels…)
“The CBO projected that Obamacare spending on coverage provisions will be 7 percent — or $101 billion — less over a decade than last April’s forecast.”
But the GOP will kill it and run up the deficit just like they always do and all for spite.
Just ask Mitch. His maybe getting to be the Majority Leader in the Senate is why this happened. Makes perfect sense too right?
