Feature not a bug.
Well there’s still the $12 per year Trumpcare insurance package.
How many premature deaths? Has to be in the thousands per year.
Does CBO provide a predicted demographic breakdown of the 13M who would lose insurance? THAT, I would like to see.
They should have thought about that before getting sick.
Trump and Friends: "Fine, let them die and reduce the excess population."
—(with apologies to Charles Dickens)
This is exactly how this should be reported. I’m sure the resulting deaths could be estimated. Even if the estimates are wrong by a factor of 5, we know the answer will not be 10 or 20 deaths. Americans will die, mostly out of sight because of Trump’s stupidity and personal vengeance aimed at Obama.
I don’t know. Mass murders are becoming a regular occurrence. Another way to decrease the surplus population.
Okay, that’s snark, sort of, but it’s all unacceptable with these people at the helm.
Okay David Wasserman just said that what dems could probably do before 2018 is to replace Nancy Pelosi. The silence and looks on a few faces spoke volumes.
That guy looks like… never mind.
Tell me again about the allegiances of those who represent the Cook Report, because this jerk is not hiding his.
Slightly off topic, but there are all these articles out now talking about how (white, christian, evangelical) people are now afraid of violence at houses of worship – blithely ignoring the violence perpetrated against mosques, LGBT-friendly and African-American churches. Kind of like the “opioid crisis” which only hit the radar because it started affecting white folks.
Isn’t that swell. They’ll be looking over their shoulders whenever they go to church unless they start locking the doors.
I remember when churches used to be sanctuaries. Not any more.
Eleven million more uninsured is not a bug, it’s a feature, and one designed to ensure that after big business and manufacturing and retail sucks the life out of its employees, it will have no obligation to care for them in sickness, much less in retirement. The “getting rid of the obligation” starts with on-call, no minimum hours, no benefits, minimum wage (or less) jobs; it extends to defaulting (when they can get away with it) on workman’s comp; and finishes, in a dystopian orgasm of joy with no obligation to pay taxes to help fund Medicare and Medicaid.
What a swell bunch of guys.
According to last night’s exit polls, 80% of those those “white, christian, evangelical” people voted for Gillespie.
The same percentage of “white, christian, evangelical” people who, nationally, voted for the golden-calf-worshiping, deadbeat, veteran-bashing, Kremlin-loving, treasonous, money-laundering, habitual-lying, tax-cheating serial rapist.
As far as I’m concerned, that lot of racist hypocrites – who wipe their rears with both scripture and the Constitution – can tell it to GOP Jezus.
So… am I correct that they are running with that awesome idea in 2018?
The American People want, need, and Deserve Health Care the Republican Party wants them to die.its a simple concept really Yesterday health care was the biggest issue the Republicans don’t care they don’t want to pay taxes they want the “little people” to pay taxes whats wrong with half the American People??? Treason is better than Health care?
Thank dog, they’re a minority, and you know how they get marginalized going forward?
Vote, damn it!
Could just one of the talking heads ask a Republican, just anyone
“Why do you and your party think it is better for the US that fewer people have medical insurance?”
I would love to hear the question asked, just once.
And I would love to hear the answer,
Actually- it’s kinda funny. One of the first things (after the horror etc) I thought on Sunday, was well- thank God I don’t go to church. Not really a hardship as I’m Jewish. But then I realized how ridiculous a thought it was because it’s not like a synagogue is less of a target.
Of course, the Trump administration does not really want churches to be sanctuaries- at least not for undocumented immigrants.
So I just met with my insurance broker today to discuss getting a plan on the Marketplace, it didn’t go well. My current insurer bailed in my area, this left Centene and Cigna, both bottom of the barrel folks. The price I would have to pay for a single person (smoker) was over $1K, the price if I wasn’t a smoker was a 30% increase from what I’m paying now.
So I went with 2 off Marketplace plans and a bare essential can’t afford crap plan from the Marketplace, so my 3 plans will be just a tad over half of what I am paying for a Bronze Marketplace plan. I hope this works out.
And under the radar, State houses are starting to pass all kinds of lenient gun laws that have GOP majorities with GOP governors. In WI they want to allow a child of any age to be able to hunt based purely on the parents decision, joining several other states that already have that allowance. In MI they want to allow concealed carry in schools. Maybe they realize many of them are about to lose their majorities after yesterday.
