Happy talk and window dressing. Hurray!
I agree that these are small steps - but I think that Francisā papacy marks a shift in point of view that can only be positive.
Baby steps, I guess, and any move in the right direction is welcome.
But cripes! Tolerable because we have gifts to offer?!
We should go on strike until we get completely equal treatment. No āgiftsā until then. Find other people to say your masses, direct your choirs, and nurse in your hospitals.
Oh, and I forgot the part about acceptance being mutual⦠What gifts exactly do the fat Pharisees bring to the table? It sure isnāt hearts brimming with charity or a gift for words.
Relatioā¦fellatioā¦Itās all the same! ____Church says: āJust show us the MONEY!ā
~rimshot!~
Iām sure Vatican 69 will be a real blast!
Bunch of creepy old men that institutionalized and distributed pedophilia worldwide and Iām supposed to give a fu*k what they think? Why, hell, theyāre still against the use of condoms.
New Catholic Cult outreach: "Love us! Weāre a little less bigoted, misogynistic and homphopbic than we were a couple of thousand years ago!:
Hmmmā¦Donāt forget that Jeebusā had a āspecial fondnessā for his disciple John ____or was that FOR a āJohnā?
They donāt play the game, why should they make the rules?
Seriously, though, this is quite ground-breaking, especially the talk about updating the Humanae Vitae. I will give Francis kudos for ushering in a new era. Itās almost as if the RCC is going back to the reforms during the Pontificate of John XXIII in the early 60s.
Sounds like another nail in the coffin of conservatives. Every where they turn they are losing. Must hurt. Good.
The Catholic Church sees the writing on the wall. If they want to keep raking in the $$ they need to change their tune.
Whatās really depressing is the fact that this is such a big deal. Wouldnāt it be great if we were to reach the point when this news was greeted with a collective āwho give a f**kā?
We are now well into the 21st century and still our collective powers that be treat phony preachers with funny hats and a criminal lust for young boys with respect. Really, really depressingā¦
That ālikeā was mainly for your āraking in the $$$ā line, because FTM* its the only way to make sense of why most people or organizations do what they do.

Oh, to have been in the room when Tony āMore Catholic than the Popeā Perkins heard about this.
This phase of his scam is winding down, but Iām sure heās already gearing up for the next phase.
Best pope ever. This is how you change an institution this old and steeped in tradition. Sad how little people want to acknowledge progress if itās total and immediate.
"The bishops repeated that gay marriage was off the table. But it acknowledged that gay partnerships had merit.
āWithout denying the moral problems connected to homosexual unions, it has to be noted that there are cases in which mutual aid to the point of sacrifice constitutes a precious support in the life of the partners,ā they said."
Imagine something like that being said a decade ago, hell a couple years ago.
I think these days mass media might do as much harm as good, but this is one instance where itās beneficial. 400 years ago Pope Francis might have been quietly assassinated for the kinds of reforms heās clearly pushing for. Now with his ability to quickly disseminate his views along with the relatively greater degree of transparency the media provides, a Pope can safely do what heās doing.
Iām an atheist myself, but seeing a religion with so many devout followers become more accepting can only be a good thing for our society.
Yeah, funny how 1.2 billion adherents confers relevance.
400? I think you added an extra zero there without meaning to.
If the perfect word of your infallible god is malleable, I have news for youā¦
Okay, show of hands: how many here besides me were initially puzzled by why TPM put a photo from a lipstick advertisement on a story about the Catholic Church?
Catholic bishops showed unprecedented openness Monday to accepting the real lives of many Catholics today, saying gays had gifts to offer the church and should be accepted and that there were āpositiveā aspects to a couple living together without being married.
DANGā¦!!!
I can think of a few people who just had a stroke by reading these news! Anyway, this does not come as a total surprise to me as I held for a long time now the notion, and many others with me, that a good part of the Catholic church is composed of gays in disguise.
Judging by the online meltdowns by conservative Catholics, this is good news.
