Wow, way to show a pair, Senator Milqetoast (R-Pissinghispants). I’m sure you’ll look back proudly on this moment where you stood up for America’s lost soldiers. Hah.
It works like this: if you send young American men to place where they are alone, with only an enemy and treacherous allies around them, expect these deaths. This is a guaranteed outcome of the policy that sent them there. There is nothing in Niger worth the death of one American. We’ll get nothing close to the value of those 4 lives from our involvement there.
It may sound ugly but most of the world isn’t worth dying for. Yet we keep on sending these guys to do just that.
So save your thoughts a prayers bullshit. You want a thought…how about this one. When that ambush hit there was a few seconds, perhaps a minute, these 4 guys knew was their last. The last one to die watched the other three do so. You want a thought to go along with your prayers…that’s a real one.

That communication would be greatly improved if Congress would specify some reason and then actually declare the wars they so thoughtlessly send soldiers into for the benefit of rogue corporations.
The soldiers grunt and do their duty. And as they watch their brothers in arms suffer wounds and death, they have to find a reason that justifies the sacrifices they see. If they survive they may well spend the rest of their lives trying to make sense of it. And if they are among the wounded and fallen, their families too will search for something to justify their loss. Their lives are all profoundly changed.
Cassidy is only trying to improve the delivery of the messages of condolence. He would say the same lie.

Exactly this. Did you see Mika’s expression when Cassidy said that? Her face said it all. Also, I want to commend Mika for naming the verbiage that Trump spatters everywhere lying. She had to pause a moment and screw up her courage, but she finally did come out with the question, “Do you think the president (deep breath pause here) lies?” I’d give her a B on the delivery. Had she not hesitated, I would have given her an A. However, she did say that tiny 3-letter “L” word that still makes most reporters and interviewers reach for their smelling salts. In the absence of smelling salts, they tend to grab euphemisms. Mika reached out and grabbed the right word today. Good for her.

I get such a kick seeing how all these Republicans who previously were so outraged at Obama’s nuance and discernment suddenly find it within themselves to engage in that very same nuance when asked to justify their own president’s sociopathy.
And Cassidy is not a whole lot better. My take on him is he’s another mealymouthed GOP whore.
