Discussion for article #239935
ÂżJeb, where are you? Hello, ÂżJeb, you still there? Hello?
Carson is as crazy as Trump. He just keeps quiet about it.
Iowa repubs: See, we’re not racist… (oh wait, tied? Nevermind)
And repubs are as stupid as Trump… Not so quiet about that.
Iowa Republicans are fucking idiots. In 2012 they voted for Santorum. In 2008 they voted for Huckabee. Before that they voted for Shrubya twice. Can we now not give a flying fuck who these thumpin zealots vote for?
The Democratic side is a bit different, but only marginally. They typically have chosen the standard bearer except for all those times they didn’t.
Wait til they find out he’s black.
This is horrible news of the establishment wing of the GOP. Not only are ALL of the anti-establishment candidates topping the polls (this is the second one now), they are well north of 50% of the vote. (65% in this poll).
Trump and Carson BOTH have a quadruple lead over Bush. A triple lead over Walker. A quintuple lead over Rubio!! Freaking Fiorina doubles Bush.
And if you are a lunatic fringe guy thinking of primarying a GOP Senator…this poll is a huge green light to go ahead and do so.
EDIT: Oh, and 54% consider themselves strongly leaning or already decided on their candidate.
The poll said most Iowans haven’t made up their minds yet…
imagine that!
The poll says 5% are undecided. Actually, 54% are strongly leaning or already decided completely.
Don’t imagine that…read the actual poll instead.
This article was written on 8/31/15. That point is very important, because like Princess Leia, its the establishment wing’s only hope.
They know…
But telling a pollster in order to make the party seem less racist and a very public caucus vote are very much different things.
Don’t worry, as per usual the most radical Christianist will win. The public nature of the caucus will ensure that religious vanity win the day.
I am in agreement with you. The nature of the caucus in Iowa creates that sort of pressure. And that’s going to be very bad news for Trump.
Carson on the other hand, has played the religious card very well so far. And, from what I hear, he has a surprisingly solid ground game going on, which is extremely important in Iowa…keeping those people in your caucus, no matter how long it takes.
They are screwed then. Obi-wan definitely would vote blue
The above were the exact words that immediately came to mind. This is bad, really bad because, as you stated, it’s a signal to every crazy that this is the year to primary your Senator or congressperson, and it’s a signal to the presidential field to unleash the crazy if they want to move up in the polls. This very clearly indicates that the GOP base is forcefully rejecting the establishment.
The other day at his presser Trump claimed that he was going to be backing off from attacking Jeb! because there’s really no point in attacking someone so far down in the polls. He said he would turn his attention elsewhere. I’m guessing that’s going to be Carson. It will be interesting to see which issues he’ll use to attack him.
It may prove to be good news for Trump, depends on which way the b.s. breeze is blowing in early '16.
As far a Carson in Iowa, his purported piety will not overcome his skin color. Wrong party.
It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to figure that out…
If a Democrat criticizes Carson, you’re a racist. So if Trump now needs to go after Carson, does that make The Chump a racist?
Trumps whole racist schtick does that already. Given we are talking the republican primary, more attack on Carson is not needed.
I expect Trump to be pissing in Kasich’s Cheerios soon.
He will have to be careful in how he attacks Carson. Carson has the doddering old fool act down to a science. Trump doesn’t want to come off as the bully beating up Carson, because Carson supporters, as opposed to McCain or Bush supporters, are the same people that Trump wants voting for him. But I agree, it will be interesting. And lets be honest, if he really wants to win, Carson is the person to be concerned about. Carson has consistently been posting good numbers. Fiorinia is getting the same momentary bounce that the deer she hit got.
But I think the real battle is going to be fought on the ground there in Iowa. I know I keep repeating myself on this issue, but I really do feel that Trump’s lack of organization there, combined with his lack of experience running campaigns, is going to pop up as a real problem for him in Iowa.
I pointed out to somebody on Friday that Trump, while leading, was weakest in Iowa (he was up 8 points on RCP Friday). Now, two polls have come out that are showing he is neck and neck with someone there. In just two days, he has lost 3 points (now up only 5)
