Discussion: Carson Stands By Belief That Muslim Shouldn't Be Prez Despite Criticism

Discussion for article #240767

Good job standing pat, Ben!

I guess it’s on the rest of us to stand by our belief that Carson is a bigot and a moron and shouldn’t be president. I haven’t received any criticism for that belief yet, but I hope when I do, I have Ben’s strength.

“Muslims feel that their religion is very much a part of your public life and what you do as a public official, and that’s inconsistent with our principles and our Constitution.”

Wow.

“I do not believe Sharia is consistent with the Constitution of this country,” he told The Hill. “Muslims feel that their religion is very much a part of your public life and what you do as a public official, and that’s inconsistent with our principles and our Constitution.”

Mike Huckabee disagrees with you (not about the Muslim part, but everything else here).

It used to be that the Republicans at least made nominal attempts at changing the constitution legally … now they just pronounce it “done” and whatever the fuck they want to say … it’s absolutely correct and sacrosanct. Is it willful ignorance on his part, or is he really this stupid?

“Muslims feel that their religion is very much a part of your public life and what you do as a public official,…”

What I agree with is that we need a significantly changed ***taxation system***. And the one that I've advocated is ***based on tithing***, because I think ***God*** is a pretty fair guy. And he said, you know, if you give me a tithe, it doesn't matter how much you make.

I wish someone would call them out on their cognitive dissonance, what with people like Ben here who say that stuff about Muslims but then feel Christianity should be a large part of ALL our public personas, and then want toenact Levitical law, which is also inconsistent with our Consitiution.

Due to the actions of Kim Davis, it would seem that fundamentalist Christians meet Unca Ben’s criteria

Moronic hijinks in the Clown Car!!

Oh yeah??! What if he tries and double-tries and he still can’t, huh? Does that mean you asked a stupid gotcha question that the Lamestream Obamacare Global-Warming Media would enjoy? :rage:

So this argument is nearly the same one used against JFK. He is Catholic and will be subservient to the pope. It assumes that people can be defined only by one thing. Not to mention, couldn’t one make the case for many that back the religious right that they want to do the same sort of stuff?

And not sure that the whole Shiara thing helps the cause at all. As many on the right want to return to Biblical stuff and that is largely the same.

Ben Carson, Kim Davis, what’s the difference? These people embrace some extreme form of evangelical dominionist Christianity that clouds their thinking and makes them run their lives within their chosen religion over other religions rather than think and run their lives by embracing freedom and democracy for all.

You know, maybe, just maybe, a candidate should skim the Constitution before running for President. You know, just to have an idea what the job entails, and stuff like that. Is that too much to ask?

Republicans used to say the same thing about Catholics and President Kennedy. And what Muslim is running which would makes this even an issue for even the demented Far Right?

I think Carson is taking an indirect swipe at Pope Francis. Muslim is the new Catholic conservative code slur. The president should call him on it. It’s time these bigots were told to leave the GOP primary stage before voters of real faith turn on all of them.

I know if a Pastafarian ever becomes Prez I’m building a colander factory pronto. Let the imposition of Noodlyism begin!

Oh! Now I see what he’s doing, he’s taking an obviously ridiculous position to highlight how everything he’s saying about Muslims can be easily applied to Christianity!

Sly devil! For a moment there I thought he was just a moron who spouts xenophobic comments in a calm voice to make people think he’s not as vile as the rest of the crazy right wing!

Carson is sly…

He has slyly availed himself of every government and civil rights-related advantage and opportunity to even be in a position to succeed in an America in which blacks had been trapped by Jim Crow for ninety years.

He is a devil…

To be a leading member of a racist, sexist, reactionary, nihilist, anarchic, pro-0.001%-er, neo-Confederate, Know Nothing cult calling itself “The Republican Party”.

An organization dedicated to trampling on the recent gains made by the ancestors and present members of the group to which he belongs.

I would like to further “call out” Carson…but then again, there are enough racist and stupid Latinos for me to focus MY attention on…I am sure my African American brothers and sisters have some choice opinions of the Good Doctor.
