So, he using an episode out of Little House on the Prarie to justify gutting the social safety net. Did he go on to explain how this parable worked for farmers who weren’t White and whose communities weren’t particularly prosperous? Or how widows with children managed to fare longterm in the community after the initial assistance was given?

Yes, the good old days, when the poor and hungry and destitute were taken in by neighbors. They were unfailingly fed and clothed and educated and taken to doctors for medical care and therapy. I wish we could go back to a time when government stayed out of our lives.

I wonder… has the good doctor ever been homeless? I have and it wasn’t a fun romantic time. I don’t recall folks running to my aid. No church group got me a job. For sure I wasn’t bothered by the big bad gubbermint neither (that’s limited government for ya). I would prefer that the government “Promote the general welfare and secure the blessings of liberty” Geebers Ben, there it is right there in the Preamble…the welfare state you benefited from.

Dear “Dr.” Carson (I say “Dr.” because with each passing sound bite I believe less and less that you actually earned a doctorate, no matter what school records say.) – Have you ever read the preamble to the Constitution? It starts with words you might find… familiar. We the people. Then there’s a lot of blah, blah, blah – then there’s a bit about "promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, etc.
We set UP our government to take care of ALL Americans. It’s in that document you and your Klown Kar Krazies keep thumping, but never seem to take the time to actually read and understand.

Have you been following my grandson around??? At 7 yrs he’s addicted to games. He’s got this new set up complete with head phones and tablet. From his mom I think. She’s not into actual books for reading like in the darr household. Rather she keeps this bright kid amused with uselessness. Unless that is he finds a way to write code with his new toy.

I play chess on the computer at least 3 hours per day. I’m good.
But I also follow politics. As Miyagi says…“whole life, have balance”. President Obama, at a recent talk to the Illinois State Legislature, stated that if people voted in very high percentages, Citizens United would not be so devastating.
