I would be tempted to expand his exclusion to anyone who professes to believe in any religion. After all, do we really want, as President, someone who believes in magical fairy stories of any type?

Another halfwit who falls into one of two categories in the Grumpy Old Party. The first category is:People who have never read the Constitution. The second category being: Those who know what they wish was in the Constitution, but is not.
What puts the cherry on the sugar cake for this pandering idiot is that as part of the Government job he is seeking, he will be required to subscribe himself to an Oath which says in part that he will “Preserve, Protect, and Defend the Constitution of the United States.”
( Article II, Section 1, of the Constitution)
Moreover, as has been pointed out,
Article 6, Paragraph 3 of the Constitution states:

“The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the members of the several state legislatures, and all executive and judicial officers, both of the United States and of the several states, shall be bound by oath or affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.”
