Discussion: Capitol Police Arrest Man Impersonating Secret Service Officer

Discussion for article #240018

It was easy to impersonate the Secret Service. Just sunglasses and an earbud with a curly wire.

Half of the people in the House should be arrested for impersonating Congressmen.

They try to leave those behind when they go to the Capitol.

“The incident is another blow to the Secret Service”

Really? How so?

“Crazy person impersonates SS agent” = “blow to the SS”?
“Crazy person impersonates SS agent” = “Drunk SS agents drive gov’t vehicle into WH barrier”?
“Crazy person impersonates SS agent” = “Negligent SS agents let knife-wielding maniac hop WH fence”?

Since when?

How was this “another blow to the Secret Service” since this man was not of the Secret Service and the Secret Service is not tasked with guarding the House Leadership?

It isn’t. Just makes a catchy headline.

…was charged with false personification of a police officer

False personification? Is that really a thing? What happened to impersonating a police officer?

If he’d showed up drunk with a stripper, no one would’ve suspected he was a fraud.

Yes, personification of a police officer or SS agent would by its nature, be false. Isn’t it usually called “impersonation”? Or did someone with a troubled lexicon write the DC law?

Well, except it wasn’t in the headline.

“false personification of a police officer” ??

That would be wrongly turning a police officer into a person. It’s debatable if that is even possible.

I believe you mean ‘impersonating a police officer’, which would be pretending to be a cop.

Now, everyone hates me, right? Sorry…

Poor Man…
He just went there for some Scalisian- Majority Whipping …

Reports say police initially became suspicious because the man wasn’t drunk, wasn’t stoned, and seemed to have an air of overall competence about him.

Don’t leave home without them.
