Theyāre waiting for guidance from Trump? Well, Iām sure he can just tweet it. Then KellyAnne Conway can tell them what he really meant.
āRepublican leaders who have been carefully crafting their own messaging and strategy behind the scenes.ā
Have they noticed that their āsuper-secret, carefully crafted messagingā is self-immolating Galaxy Note 7-style just about every day this week?
āI think it would be very helpful for him to weigh in and say exactly what he wants done because he is going to carry a fair amount of weight,ā said Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI)
āBecause I need someone to blame when this whole thing falls apart one way or another.ā
Conway says we should ignore what Trump says but instead look into his heart. In his heart is āme, me, me.ā He has not idea what heās doing.
Exactly my first thought when I read that.
In addition to getting at money tied up in policy healthcare delivery, the GOP has an incentive to deal brutally with our aging population. The growing cohorts of elderly people are a common problem throughout the developed economies (and even some emerging economies like China), with old people not consuming much, sitting on savings and relying on public subsidies in the last two or three decades of life. Accelerated death (shorter lifespan) frees up money for spending and economic growth. Additionally, keeping people in the workforce as long as possible assures that they consume more, invest actively, spend less time seeking public services and hopefully drop dead on the job. The āgreatā system we are about to get seems to be little more than a gutting the ACA, stranding 20-30 million people instantly, and imperiling a good deal more. Countries like Germany and Italy have already peaked in working-age population, and are locked in on a rising dependency ratio, but maybe this is avoidable. At least partially. Syria, for example, managed to lower its population to around 18 million (within its borders anyway) and cut lifespans by 20 years! It also created a huge refugee problem. If a similar proportion of Americans were to emigrate, it would amount to 60-70 million people. Might be a bit much for Canada, but maybe Germany and Italy would be open to American immigrants?
Wait, GOP Reps. and Senators are really. truly, and actually, looking to Donald Trump for leadership?
You know, Iām kind of cynical, and Iāve always thought Conservatives/Republicans were pretty dumb, but I was never cynical enough to think they were THAT idiotic. I mean, I thought they accepted Trump as their leader as a vehicle for their own cynical opportunism - it never occurred to me that they actually thought this insecure, narcissistic, misogynistic, racist, grift-ridden charlatan could lead.
Iām just flabbergasted.
charlatan: noun: 1. a person falsely claiming to have a special knowledge or skill; a fraud 2. is a person practicing quackery or some similar confidence trick in order to obtain money, fame or other advantages via some form of pretense or deception
Not leadership, just predictability. If anything, Trump is predictable, at least since the age of 12.
Just switch up the old moral guidance question, āWhat would Jesus do?ā with āWhat would a real asshole do?ā and youāve got your answer.
Had Marla Maples, for example, raised this question in her fourth year of marriage to Trump, she probably could have avoided the consequences of her prenup. So remember, WWARAD, and you or any member of congress will have the answer!
This is a case of the blind leading the blind, trump is clueless and his comments prove it, the GOP members of congress deserve the mess they have created for themselves and Trump is about to find out how reality works in Washington. What kind of guidance can or will he provide other than saying make it happen, neither one of them wants to take the heat, but itās starting to simmer.
Anyone expecting leadership from Trump will be sorely disappointed and has not been following the bouncing ball since he announced his candidacy. Trump is not only not a ādeep thinkerā, he has the attention span of a 4 year old.
It is not that Trump does not care about resolving the ObamaCare issue. The problem is that Trump is incapable of even beginning to process the massive quantity of information that is needed to form a valid opinion and add any meaningful input to the discussion.
The GOP Congress is on their own. We can rest assured that whatever they do, they will screw the pooch.
Come on, Lauren, this articleāwith its cautious, āitās possible that Trump may not be a policy wonkā toneāis ridiculous. Just state the obvious: Trump knows nothing about Obamacare or the attempts to repeal it. He doesnāt have any idea about what the legislative process is or what it would mean to replace the ACA. Heās talking out of his ass, not from his āgut.ā
I know youāre on the right side but this seems like too much of an attempt to normalize this corrupt imbecile.
May I add that when the Republicans got behind Trump they got behind some one who has ever only concerned himself with me, mine, and how will this give me attention. The elected Republicans in office to some degree have never had the full power of royal decree, theyāve had to work with others (usually only within their own party in places).
So it comes down to Ryan and McTrurtle, can they devise a way through the landmines and pitfall that they themselves have created?
Oh and does any know can turtles sweat?
Today was the day Rand Paul promised that he would have his ObamaCare replacement bill ready and present it. He said it was "easy-peasyā and that others were making the issue MUCH too complicated. HE had the simple acceptable solution.
You can bet that noting more will be heard from Paul or anyone about that āpromiseā. He never had a bill. He never planned to introduce anything. He knew it would not matter to him nor his political future. GOP SOP.
I find it hilarious that Pubbies complained about how terrible and awful Obamacare was for Americans and now Pubbies are afraid to do a damn thing about the repeal and replace garbage they have been pushing for the last 6 years. Did picking up the White House and Senate in the last election turn into the ābe careful what you wish for because you might get itā moment for the Pubbies? Sure looks that way. They now have to deliver on the repeal of Obamacare because that is what they have been promising their base for the past 6 years and they also have to deliver on the replace of Obamacare with something better like they have been promising the whole country. I honestly canāt understand why Pubbies are having such a terrible time figuring out what to do if Obamacare really is such a terrible law.
Welcome to the āPenceā administration. Like Cheney before him
Geez. I hope that theyāre not holding their breaths waiting for Trump to lead them to the promised land of PPACA repeal. Actually, I take that back. I hope they are.
Somebody should remind Trump every day that he can get a lot more attention with the veto pen than heāll ever get with a tweet. Sign their legislation, and theyāll ignore you. Veto their legislation and they will beg you to tell them what they need to do to make it OK. So Trump should veto everything he doesnāt understand, which is to say, basically, everything.
To Republicans, PPACA (aka āObamacareā) is the epitome of all evil in the galaxy. Problem is that itās actually helping real people- even if people donāt realize what it is thatās actually helping them- and Republicans know it and know that following through on their promise to repeal would be politically costly for them and, at least so far, they havenāt figured out a way to make Democrats responsible for the subsequent fallout. It was easy, of course, for them to spend the last six years lobbing grenades at it, raising money off of it, winning elections by demonizing it, and holding repeal votes of the law, because, of course, once President Obama won re-election in 2012, they knew that he would never consent to its repeal and had no means of overriding him. Now, they have all the power to repeal it at their disposal and theyāre choking so far because they know that itās going to hurt and/or kill people, which is going to generate tons of bad publicity and lost votes for them (because even some of THEIR voters will suffer) once they are (rightly) fingered for the crime.
