Discussion: Can Bernie Sanders Redeem The Word 'Socialist'?

IIRC, you’re the guy who said he picked Obama because you believed he was a liberal but this time you’ve bothered to check Sander’s voting record so we should just trust you that Bernie is electable.

So she deserves support simply because she’s a woman? Interesting logic.

Republican Senators are even rarer. All in for Ernst when her time rolls around again?

Yes, actually. Context matters. See also: Nigger.

That 85% is 98% of taxpayers. Which means that regardless of what proportion they were paying before, the amount redistributed to the other 2% was massively disproportionate.

I agree and I hate those weight attacks on Christie too. And also on Huck since he’s packing it back on. It just cheapens the case against them.

I dunno, are we talking secession or just not carrying the electorate?

As a Unionist I’m talking about whether Bernie could attain the Presidency or not.

Expulsion is another matter.

Well, either that or they pay a really good manager to look after their inherited wealth.

I also try not to sink to the level of slamming people on weight or other areas of appearance, but there’s something about Christie because he’s so personally repugnant and vile and a liar who literally embraced the president when NJ needed Federal help then quick ran away when he decided to campaign from that which brings out the worst in me. But women whatever career they may have have always been easy targets for stoopids and it’s not acceptable.

The most interesting numbers in that chart are the ones that show 29% of conservative Republicans and 40% of moderate republicans 30 and up have a negative view of capitalism. Ruh Roh!

To be fair, the context of the comment was clearly dismissive Of Bernie. It was more cutting than needed at this stage. It’s fine and fair to call her out on it. Not, illogical. Perhaps a bit whiney though.

As far as the socialist label issue, I’m inclined to mostly agree. That said, there is a segment of the party (sizable enough) which has legitimate concerns about Clinton. These concerns generally are not show stoppers for is, but make it hard to be excited. (although the historic nature of her winning would be exciting)

Benie is full throated in his stances that fit fully within the party base. This we can be excited about. But the point is being excited.

We know what not being excited gets us (2010,2014). And what does 2006,2008,2012.

Bernie’s folks will come around as needed. Be excited that they are excited. I’m excited you’re excited.

My while I do support Bernie, my point was to note how the language used sets a tone. In the case of the post I was replying to the language was dismissive of Bernie’s chances. I was using the same language. In this case I came across as dismissive of Hillary.

I guess that underscores the original point I was making?

Anyway, sorry for the confusion of I wadnt communicating my point well.

I tend to agree with your comment Blue.

I agree with you and she deserves respect but she has not always been a fighter for democratic causes and has instead had to be coerced to support same

I love Bernie but the only way he will get the party’s nod for the nomination is if he creams HRC in the major primaries. The way the party (both parties unfortunately) operates that probably won’t happen. It is a nice wet dream however. If you think there is opposition to Obama, can you imagine what the republicans will do to him.

To be fair Hillary isn’t going to get half of what she wants either because republicans will be damned(as with Obama) if they are going to allow a democrat to do a popular thing.

In 2008., I was thinking the same thing… About Clinton, as I remember the 1990s.

To be fair I should have known that it matters not who they are but the fact that that are a democrat.

Whether a black man, a woman or socialist these are just epithets to rile the base against a democrat.

Because Christie is a wealthy white male and this country doesn’t have the same history of using appearance against wealthy white males as a tool to belittle and put them “in their place” that it does of using it as a tools against women.

You don’t say!

But then Puddles is truly an “Army of One”

Now we can see Hillary’s strategy a little more clearly: employ Claire McCaskill to play the Spiro Agnew role, take the nasty shots while keeping Hillary above the nastiness.
