Since Trump and his camp followers have let the door open for speculation we can truthfully say he regrets his whole campaign, he regrets that all his free publicity has got him some low poll numbers, and he regrets that he didn’t understand the difference between rally attendance numbers and poll numbers.
This actually reminds me of W, the Idiot-in-Chief.
After it became clear that FEMA’s response Hurricane Katrina was non existent and everything turned into a debacle, he went on tv and said that he “took responsibility.” And Rethugs over the years have done the same thing: telling people that they regret whatever is going wrong and then not doing a damn thing to change what’s going wrong. Because, to them, saying that they’ll take responsibility for actions (i.e. regretting actions) means more than ACTUALLY working to right the damage.
It’s a common ploy for them and one that I don’t think will work.

Unfortunately, our media and far too many people are conditioned to accept “I regret” as an apology. It’s the standard non-apology.
And yes, I was understating that. I have a pretty good grasp of words even if I sometimes don’t express myself very well.

So he regrets it and doesn’t apologize. Even if he eventually says he’s sorry for what he said about Mexicans, the judge, the Kahns, etc., it’s meaningless until he says he knows it isn’t true.

Republicans never apologize. They feel sorry for themselves and suck their thumbs…in this case their small hands.
I wonder what they’ll come up with in a couple of decades when the effects of climate change start to really hurt. The extreme weather we’re seeing now is just the early stages. Will they “mea culpa” or blame democrats or the gubmint. I think the latter. The GOP’s game is to create and promulgate chaos, manipulate it and, if possible, profit by it. If a mea culpa helps that along; sure, why not.

Well, it wouldn’t. Back in the Primary, the media didn’t have time to sit down and pick apart everything Trump does. Plus, “Crooked Hilary” just doesn’t resonate the way Dump Trump or Trumpster Fire does. “Crooked Clinton” is a bit better, but not really. “Harpy Hily” would, but I digress.

He didn’t mean those words when he said that he sent private investigators to go after Obama’s ‘true’ birth certificate.
He didn’t mean those words about pivoting essentially being a bad thing.
