Fuck you, Kobach, and that Great Orange Dickhead you rode in on.
Every little stick in the eye helps. If only Republicans participate in the Commission, and they find massive voter fraud in the states from which they’re elected, do the Democrats get to automatically take over?
“California’s participation would only serve to legitimize the false and already debunked claims of massive voter fraud made by the President, the Vice President, and Mr. Kobach.”
California - You talkin’ to me?
Nice. I hope more state-level SoS also refuse.
Isn’t Kobach the only Sec. of State to refuse to provide any information on voter fraud to the NYT regarding voter fraud in the 2016 election for their survey of each state’s top election officials (which, of course, turned out to be 49 officials reporting to the NYT that voter fraud was pretty much non-existent in their states).
“Recently, when Michael Wines of The New York Times surveyed all 50 chief election officials as to whether there were significant levels of voter fraud in their states, 49 of them said there was not; Kobach refused to respond.”
This shit is a joke.
Don’t see how a Commission, created by Presidential Executive Order, has the power to “demand” anything from any other institution other than offices of the Executive branch.
Of course the sanctioned Kobach is behind this; probably gets a chubby thinking of power.
Or, they could all demand that Kobach produce any actual documented and real evidence the Commission has on which it bases it’s requests prior to even considering Kobach’s requests.
“The commission’s vice chair, Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, demanded Thursday that all 50 secretaries of state hand over the voter information to the commission…”
“I couldn’t be more petrified if a wild Rhinoceros had just come home from a hard day at the swamp and found me wearing his pajamas, smoking his cigars, and in bed with his wife.” – Edmund Blackadder
Before that, they should demand that Kobach provide case law precedents for his request. Don’t even agree to have a conversation with him until he proves he has the power he claims. Especially since he has no statutory power. He is merely another state’s Secretary of State, his appointment to a commission not created by law notwithstanding.
Go Alex, go Alex, go Alex, go Alex!!!
Just waiting on Sunnu (who’s up for reelection in '18) to pipe up.
Or let him provide the bogus studies by some North Carolina academic fraud upon which this whole movement and commission is based (whose study said that millions of dead people voted blah blah blah). This theory was all the rage on FOX et al before Putin delivered the election to them.
California AG Xavier Becerra and San Francisco City Attorney Herrera have said no to trumPP regime requests including those on withdrawing sanctuary city protection. Now SofS Padilla. I see a pattern and I couldn’t be prouder
Kobach will be wondering how that elephant got in his pajamas before long.
McAuliffe is saying the same. WASPs hate MANGOTUS as well.
States’ rights! States’ rights!! Oh, and btw, screw Kris Koback with a rusty shovel. He can “demand” all he wants; don’t buckle under to this Nazi.
Yep. And remember the State of the State when Governor Brown said: “California’s not going back. Not now. Not ever.”
(Now if we could just get rid of that nincompoop Nunes.)
Perhaps the legislature can do a little district jiggling and make Nunes’ life a bit difficult in the upcoming elections. Due to Tom Delay’s actions, the previous right wing SCOTUS has ruled that district lines can be redrawn even in non census years.
Not in California, they can’t. California has one of the model laws on nonpartisan redistricting.
