Given the timing, this has to rate as truly one of the most incredible events I can ever recall, if only because there are no shortage of people with motive to do it…
Nope
That was the plotline for the original Battlestar Galactica pilot.
Just take out Russia n put in Cylons.
He found out the elk were “macking”? That is some sh*t.
Uh, what about the SEC?!
Holy crap. Not good. America, we have a problem.
Alabama lost. SEC is a bunch of losers. Sad.
Hiya, Vlad. Sorry I had my tv off. Could you just text me?
Meanwhile in Russia, an intern was just fired (with extreme prejudice) for hitting the wrong button on Putin’s remote.
I was so sad about Alabama losing the game with one second to go.
Or not.
The OuteRT Limits
There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image, make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur or sharpen it to crystal clarity. For the next hour sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. We repeat: there is nothing wrong with your television set.
Apparently, this isn’t the first time a TV broadcast has been hijacked or hacked either here or elsewhere. I’m not sure if its easier or harder now that signals are sent digitally instead of analog but I think these kinds of incidents were always taken as pranks, usually been done at a local level. Just weird though. Sorta creeps you out with the Red (and Orange) Menaces lurking about.
Here’s an example of a cut-in:
The first thing I thought of was that part in “V for Vendetta” when the guy comes on the screen. Booga-booga. Then I thought of that part when the masked person comes on screen during the Mr. Robot episodes. Wonder what Orwell would make of this shit…
I’ve always found it odd that as long as RT has been running on my local Comcast cable system (which is probably seven or eight years, maybe more?) they have it running it 24/7 on TWO separate channels. The only other channel they do that for is the local Comcast sports channel, with the second station serving as a backup when there are two conflicting events they need to televise. I wonder how much RT pays cable providers to carry it.
So anyway, what was Maxine Waters talking about regarding the SEC?
Now what are the republicans trying to push through?
I eagerly await the President-Elects tweet, explaining that this, too, is “fake news.” He’s so intelligent and insightful…heaven help us all.
On the subject of Russian meddling, just check out (1) this Guardian opinion piece to the effect that the Russian hacking ought to be investigated; and then, more saliently, (2) the comments.
They’ve closed the piece for comments now, but it’s an extraordinary example of how sophisticated the Russian propaganda machine is. And during 2016, they dominated key progressive boards with comments to the effect that Hillary was corrupt & warmongering, US institutions useless, burn it down, vote for Jill Stein, NATO is etc. And countless people, young ones in particular, fell for it.
NB: Note that they comment first…
I think they ought to pull their FCC license before Obama leaves as part of the sanctions…just a thought. Trump would never do that. He’d be on there giving in-person interviews in lieu of CNN.
I’ve noticed several blips on MSNBC the last several months. They’d last only a couple of seconds, but I’d never seen that happen before. I remember thinking, “TESTING, TESTNG”.
This situation was an actual comedy sketch back in the day with Rick Moranis, Andrea Martin and Dave Thomas!
Ok now I’m really freaked out.
Could Andy Kaufman be minutes from reappearing?
That hair looks like it’s been through a few fires.
