McCrory… manservant to the NC Tea Party and Social Conservatives… is in way over his head…
When you’ve ceded the high moral ground to corporations and businesses, you may want to reexamine your ethics and relevance…
If the businesses in NC had wanted to take action against this shitstain, they should have done it when he was running for office. But of course they wouldn’t want to do that. Supporting a Democrat? As if.
No, they’d rather go the whole buyer’s remorse route rather than avoiding the screwup in the first place.
Like I said elsewhere, he’ll blame the press, misunderstanding the purpose of the law, Hiillary made him do it, nasty liberals, dirty progressives, weak-kneed republicans…all but himself and his pubbie legislators!
You’re trying to use the logic of business to force religious zealots to change their mind. These are two different worlds. They will not back down until a sizable number of them lose re-election. That is the only thing these people understand, is power. They lose power, they will change their ways. Until then, expect this to be pushed in every deep red state until it becomes too politically toxic to continue.
Take Indiana for example. They got resoundingly destroyed in the business world and backed down. Yet other states are still not only pulling this crap, but worse, and under extremely shady circumstances. They are still winning elections.
You want to criticize this decision, every business? Then stop donating to any campaign run by anyone who voted in favor for this law. Don’t threaten to take away tourism dollars. There are millions of redneck bigots in this country who will travel to NC specifically to spend money and shove it in your face. Look at Chick-Fil-A. But they won’t donate to re-election campaigns, so hit them where it hurts or sit down and save your profit-based arguments for the boardroom.
Betty Bowers explains “Religious Freedom” legislation, GOP style…
Violation: Forcing a baker to deliver a gay-wedding cake.
Not a Violation: Forcing her to deliver a rapist’s baby.
Businesses including those cited here need to put pressure on Art Pope who is the Koch’s man on the ground in NC. The governor’s a figurehead
Keep Kochin’ that chicken, McCrory.
Go ahead Pat and tell us AGAIN how stupid everyone is and it’s ALL THE MEDIA’S FAULT, followed closely by Obama…sorry to be the one to tell you but…you are not the smartest one in the room.
McCrory doesn’t have anybody to blame but himself. He should have known that paying off religious bigots by signing this turd of a bill ran the risk of pissing off large segments of the business community.
Well, money. They kinda understand money. But, yea, they have quite a way to go on sex and when you get down to it power is slipping.
How absolutely depressing that the good news in the human rights fiasco in North Carolina is that the state government is being pressured by big businesses to do the right thing. It’s basically a given that the voters’ wishes, aside from the bigoted minority, are simply ignored.
McCrory keeps defending the bill or at least an aspect of it…no little girls to be exposed to men coming into the YMCA women’s room. But he overlooks, intentionally, all the other aspects of the bill. Exactly the same thing he did with the voter suppression legislation. He is fundamentally dishonest.
Yes, because nobody could have predicted what a Teabagger governor would do once in office.
I’m sure it was a complete and total surprise for those poor people…
Methinks that the Gov. has Art Pope pulling his strings and Art has repeatedly demonstrated that the last thing on his list is anything that might benefit the good citizens of the state such as decent education (particularly colleges and universities) fair minimum wages, civil and gender rights or dealing with climate change.
Couple The Pope with a Governor, a Legislature, and increasingly a court system in complete thrall to the GOP and you are going to get yourself a giant mess…economically, politically and legally. North Carolina joins that fine group of pure examples on just how well this works including Louisiana (post-Jindal and facing a giant budget deficit, Kansas (Brownback got his second term and has used it to double down on Trickle Down with the school system in chaos as a result and the business community begging - without success as it turns out – for the legislature to raise enough revenue to keep the lights on) and WI (where Scott Walker got the control of the Courts he desperately needed to keep from being indicted for illegal manipulation of his staff and campaign funds.)
And still these bozos continue to insist that they just need a little more time for the trickle to become a flood. The flood has actually come, but the ink is colored deep dark red.
What are you talking about? Crazytalk. Why ol’ Pat, he’s a “Different Kind of Republican.” A moderate moderate whose moderate moderation is known far and wide. Totally not like those crazy right wingers in the General Assembly whose bills he keeps signing and defending. Moderate, sez I.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer group… hold the bigots to the fire.

Moderate, huh? As in mode-rate. As in not the mean average (add them all up
and divide by the number), and not the median (half above, half below), but the
MODE (the single most represented of the bunch). Which implies that the single
most common voter in NC is a foolish, biased troglodyte.
