That’s my hope as well and why I welcome any voice on the right that speaks out. However, the right wing has disowned GWB because he didn’t prove to be a true conservative. They have a long history of disowning their failures (GWB, GHWB, RMN) or anointing them gods (Regan) while they misrepresent their records (Regan again). They will disown Trump in the (hopefully near) future for not being a true conservative and a former Democrat.
I will say that I don’t think GWBush is as hateful as Trump. They are both easily manipulated, though, just in different manners.
I know what I would use for marinade if he ate a steak at my house.
sssssssssss
You just wait, luckily, Donald has some serious stupid people as advisers…
Case by case; case by case. But in this case, I’m kinda proud of the old bastard for showing us a mite.of decency. So, in this case, back atcha GW.
He’s looking to replace Nero in that role…
I feel like the proverbial frog in boiling water where I’m expected to slowly acclimatize myself to progressively worsening leadership.
But no, no matter how slowly they ratchet up the heat, I will never get used to the idea that Trump, a possible Russian agent, is President.
Since I don’t have a cat right now, I would need to go down to my neighbor’s and borrow some cat pee in which to marinate Trump’s steak.
President + Trump are about as likely and abomominable a combination as Steak + Ketchup.
Make sure you add the vomit rub and the kitty litter coating.
Just keep it in perspective.
This is tepid criticism to offer up. He doesn’t like the lack of civility? Not a word on the actual policies. The press plays an important role…while giving an interview to the press, an industry that has very direct impacts upon his earning power as an ex-President?
I have seen this hope (throw these bums out and replace them with Hillary or any other Dem) expressed in many different forms on these threads. The only way this can happen is through a coup or other extra-constitutional action where the cure is going to be worse than the disease. Face reality, we are going to have a Republican president for the next 4 years (likely not Trump but almost certainly Pence or Ryan). Bad for certain, but worse than the disease of Trump, probably not.
Also, anybody who shades their optimism with the phrase “our country has survived worse” can only point to the civil war as an example. To his credit, I don’t think Bush said that.
GWB was never a strong orator…
Too bad he didn’t mention not liking how “conservatism” is now totally dead and discredited. The four or five actual conservatives remaining might be have taken some comfort in that.
I would say though the nature and scale of evil and incompetence of the current administration is entirely in another league.
And I did think back then we were going through one of the worst administrations in our lifetime…
With Republicans, you can always be assured that they can give even the Devil pause for concern.
I never thought I’d say this, but here I go:
-
Despite being a terrible president, Bush the Lesser wasn’t a racist demagogue.
-
Thank you Mr. Bush.
So when we look back at w and mango comparatively, the criteria will be which was more evil or more stupid. Some choice.
And never a policy wonk either
There are actually quite a few speaking out–Bill Kristol*, Charlie Sykes, Evan McMullen and others–but they are being dismissed and thrown out of the true conservative party.
*OMG, he has even lost Kristol, a pompous, arrogant (former) conservative POS (still currently a POS).
