Discussion: Bush Lawyer: Revoke Kushner's Security Clearance Or Give It To Putin

Speaking of bars, Trump is the 2nd in a row teetotaler President.
We’d be better off with someone like John Tower.
I’m not a fan of drinking, especially to excess, but a buttoned up President might not be the best leader. I’ve read that some historians think that Grant’s drinking was crucial to his success, because he was able to think big. Trump’s idea of thinking big is to put a Mexican flag on a taco bowl.

Edit: I meant Trump is the 2nd in a row GOP teetotaler President.

Impeachment and treason have never been bedfellows before, but the fact that there were no Russians at Watergate and Monica wasn’t a Russian should help each Republican when they wake up understand why this really IS different. And why presidential pardons aren’t proper here, or even allowed.

The founders knew very well to make foreign intrigue immune from presidential pardons, it is almost as if they knew Trump was hiding here in the future, waiting to slip and slide his sleazy way into our highest office, with help from foreign adversaries, and they made certain he would not dwell there long with impunity.

Has anyone told Trump yet his pardon power ends at the Atlantic and the Pacific?

I do believe he thinks he’s got some sort of safety net for himself, but his appeal to Putin publicly while on stage at a rally may have cost him that get out of jail free card, it is the kind of proof that just can’t be denied.

That one stupid public statement may permanently prevent Trump from any sort of legal protections.

gross and big are not always synonymous…

So it is true then that Ivanka and her two brothers can’t be pardoned for treasonous activity? Because, I’ve read on other blogs and heard on Twitter that they’ve been taped doing just that (foreeign intellice agencies provided some of the proof) – and that Meuller has the evidence.

The odds increase every day that this is the last Republican President in history.

And as for COngress, we can’t take their red-red enclaves away but we can prevent them from gerrymandering our advantages away. They may have sealed their future, which it isn’t looking good for them because of it.

The Republicans were so engrossed and unyielding and antagonistic in their Hillary-hate and alt-real right wing fervor, they were willing to commnit political suicide and they don’t even know it. Yet.

Maybe we are wrong here, but “the words of he prophets are written on the subway walls”, and they don’t speak well of our current ruling class.

I’m surprised they even get bathroom passes.

I can easily see a Republican winning the Presidential race in 2020.
The Democratic party isn’t quite on the brink of internecine war, but could get there, depending mostly on what Bernie and his acolytes do.

Who are you referring to ? Obama liked a pint here and there, and George W Bush was off the wagon after a few years of Presidenting.

I may be mistaken, but I do believe that is where presidential pardons end, it would be too easy for a president to be a full-on traitor, discovered too late, and pardon the spies and the traitors as part and parcel of the act of treason.

I’ll se if I can find the actual wording but it makes sense.

Trump can pardon his people for emoluments violations and other domestic crimes, but he can’t pardon treasonous acts. Now that the authorities are admitting this IS an “official” attack, just as much as a military engagement, more and more of their careless crimes become certifiably treasonous, and the pardon opportunities completely disappear.

It has happened before, that treason was condoned, if not pardoned, it was certainly rewarded… Ollie North. But this is SO MUCH deeper, even that comparison falls short of just how extreme the Trump treason really has been all along.

Sorry, I meant 2nd in a row Republican.

Putin doesn’t need a US security clearance. He has something even better than the FSB or GRU. Putin has Frankenputz in the Oval Office. I wonder who the hair helmet is going to get “chatty” with after Kisl’yak goes home to his dacha? General Antonov never struck me as the talkative sort.

Moi, I see it as the first step down a slippery slope which hopefully ends in incarceration.

PS… the Democratic Party exists in a permanent state of internicene conflict, Will Rogers joked about it, but it is one reason I joined in the first place, the diversity of the Democrats extends well beyond their ethnic makeup ito the very independent nature of the individuals, and I do believe it will serve us all well, considering what a diverse nation we live in.

Old time, middle class Republicans crossed a line with Trump where their rank and file never should have joined the easy-money Republicans who now run roughshod over the process. The moderates surrendered their own individualism one time too many to join the goose-steppers-for-Trump on the march, and it put them so far on the wrong side of reality and history itself, their Trump mistake will prove mortal to the party itself.

The “democrats” are still going thru the Closets at DNC HQ looking for a dustpan to clean up the mess left in 2016. The only problem is that they don’t need a dustpan. They need to rent a bulldozer and a backhoe.

crickets?

Yeah, Bernie created quite the mess. :innocent:

I’m pretty sure blabbermouth already gave Putin, Putin’s ambassadors, and Putin’s press a hyper secret clearance.
