It’s not enough to stay neutral with Trumpski. It the Bush folks don’t throw his ego a bone he will sit there in the front row and make faces. I hope HW haunts him.

Sad state of affairs when one is invited and we promise not to say anything bad about you.
Been safer to just ignore him and out of respect for everybody, not invite him.
won’t be long anyway and he will reward himself with some self ego boosting tweet about how he loaned “his” - our plane to the bushes and the media never gave him credit for it.

Bush Family Apologies : “Freaking Clinton and Obama we told them to lay off Trump, and went ahead and did it, now Donald is crying.”

“Authenticity ! If you can fake that, you’ve made it!”

Donald Trump is the poster boy for “Unauthentic Man”, fake values and fake gold everywhere. We should pity him.

they also wanted to ensure the funeral was carried out according to the family’s wishes, including the use of Air Force One to carry his remains to and back from Washington, D.C.

So, they had to suck up to Trump or Bush's remains were going to get shuttled around in a Cessna? Please...........

Clinton and Obama have too much class to grandstand at a funeral, period. Especially not one of a former president — they have too much respect for the person and the office. It would never cross their minds to do such.

Donnie Dumpster, however, would have no reservations about turning a funeral into a show, hence the need for promises.

However, after an hour or so of squirming and listening to laudatory speeches about someone who loathed him means that there’s a “look at me! Look at me! LOOK AT ME!!!” tweetstorm in our very near future…

It’s telling in all of the various events surrounding Bush’s showing and interment Trump has no speaking slot. Surely if he did in no time he’d be dissing dirty effing migrants, bragging about the economy and trying to rouse those assembled into a “Lock her up!” chant.

Fine. Then let’s not mention Trump AT ALL. Nobody needs to ‘assure’ him that his feelings won’t be hurt. Nobody needs to assure him of ANYTHING. We will have a funeral for a former President with no interference or tweets by the middle schooler in the WH who is bound and determined to make everything about him…yes, lets.

Those sausage fingers can’t stay away from the twitterverse forever over this passing. Something’s coming, as sure as rain in Seattle.

Is t it interesting that even GHW’s funeral is about Trump?

There may be no direct anti-Trump talk at the service, but the comparisons will be inevitable. Any mention of a life of service, of kindness and respect, of judgment and discretion, will be compared to the illegitimate Individual-1 we’re now saddled with.

Waiting for another “get me out of here” moment. Or a tweetstorm during the funeral if it goes on for too long without Trump hearing his own name.

Neither of those is anywhere outside the realm of possibility.

Sometimes silence speaks louder than words — this will be one of those times. And Donnie Dumpster will feel it in his reptilian brain. And be raging about it.
