I’d feel much better about the faith I was raised in if the Catholic bishops were there with these people arguing for the granting of asylum.
Who has to put signatures on the decisions to summarily deny asylum? There are going to be even more people limited to domestic travel only after this administration is done.
Wouldn’t if be nice if we had an proactive State Department that was at this moment working with the Mexican and Costa Rican governments to develop an initiative to bring down the level of violence in Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala while working on a program for refugees and displaced persons? I guess it’s asking too much for the US and the other Central American republics to work on a system of refugee camps and relocation procedures for the victims of the drug wars. In Trumpistan, I guess it’s more fun to just bitch about these refugees and tell them to go home. I once lived and worked among these refugee types, and I know that they don’t deserve what’s happening to them.
It’s a completely fucked up situation, and these poor people are now caught in the vise of American domestic politics.

I have serious doubts about this caravan of people seeking asylum. They have a touch of trump about them rather rowdy for a group of people seeking asylum don’t you think. We’re not stupid Donald Trump.
