So tell me again why some understandably angry Nevadan hasn’t taken a high-powered rifle and gone cow-blasting when they’re out and along the road?
Since Nevada and the Federal government have no balls to do something about Bundy, the only way to get his attention and cause him some loss is to catch his wayward illegal property and afflict him via that route.
Especially when you’re flying down an unlit stretch of highway without your highbeams on? Was the cow asleep in the middle of the road? Extreme cow-tipping?
Cloven-Hoof Cliven has vaguely threatened a counter-suit, saying the victims owe him for the dead livestock:
Bundy said he was within his rights to make a claim against Beck for the loss of his livestock. “The person whose car hit that cow is liable to me,” Bundy said.
So, Bunghole Bundy approaches the Law the way he discusses the Negro: there’s what he chooses to believe, and that’s that.
How is it that the lunatic fringe at Fox have not called for Bundy to be shot. He and his crew actually had guns when they confronted the police. Didn’t they say a cop could shoot a person that didn’t even have a gun if they were non-compliant with law enforcement?
Annoying as it is, Bundy is probably right. In ‘open range’ states, as many western states are, cattle have the right to wander anywhere they like to graze. Property owners are under an affirmative obligation to fence them out (and if your fence breaks, it’s your responsibility to fix it, not the ranchers’ to respect your attempted fence). And in this context, state highways also count – if the state doesn’t fence them off, cows can legally wander on to them. Moreover, in those states livestock have the right of way; if you hit a cow or sheep or whatever, you are at fault and can indeed owe compensation to the owner. Even if it was a black cow on a moonless night, the cow is always right.
I know Oregon generally works that way, and I gather Texas is similar. I think Oregon excludes interstate highways, but Texas apparently does not and maybe Nevada does not either.
That Bundy’s cows were illegal might change this, but he’s probably right on the general principle.
Why would Bundy The Patriot have insurance for government land? And why would he pay to fix the government’s fences? He doesn’t recognize the Government.
Cliven doesn’t know much about insurance but if you want to know anything about “The Negro” feel free to ask him he’s always willing to share that knowledge.
Prediction: He’ll ignore the suit papers.
She’ll get a default judgement.
His insurance co – if he has one – will deny coverage because he disappeared the suit papers.
She’ll have a helluva time getting an execution of the judgement, but it will hang over his property as a lien
Cliveyboy, Gawd’s other only begotten son, has a problem here: His cows are on the land illegally. Had it not been for Cliveyboy’s illegal actions, the cows would NOT have found their way to the road. So, Cliveyboy is liable while an honest rancher would have immunity if the freeway was designated as “Open Range”.
