“Britain First seeks to divide communities through their use of hateful narratives which peddle lies and stoke tensions,” May’s spokesman said. “They cause anxiety to law-abiding people. British people overwhelmingly reject the prejudiced rhetoric of the far right.”
As if we needed more proof of Churchill’s quip that the U.S. and Britain are two nations divided by a common language . . . I’m truly not sure Trump can understand what May is saying here.
On days where I feel everyone is hateful and nasty, and I feel really down that enough people actually voted him in office, seeing PM May condemn trump gives me hope.
About that upcoming Trump visit to Britain … if someone takes a steaming dump on your front lawn, do you then take them out some toilet paper? Rescind the invite … loudly and with the reasoning. There’s being polite and then there’s supporting intolerable behavior.
Great, now Trump and Putin will have to engineer May’s ousting. Some people never learn.
Just let nature take it’s course - she’s doing pretty well on the self-ousting front. (At least in condemning Trump she is doing the right thing)
“Britain First seeks to divide communities through their use of hateful narratives which peddle lies and stoke tensions,” May’s spokesman said.
Sounds familiar. Almost as if there were people in the U.S. who do the same thing. Now, if I could just remember who…
the President should be ashamed of himself.
One of the many things that are outside his skill set.
“The President should be ashamed of himself.”
Dear Mr. Cox, it’s become American’s mantra.
Give it time
“When a Diplomat says ‘yes’, he means ‘maybe’, when he says ‘maybe’, he means ‘no’, and if he says ‘no’, he’s not a diplomat”
Another thing is that May’s position is very shaky, a successor may not want to renew the invitation, should she fall…
We haven’t seen any stories here about the royal engagement, we’ve probably all read about it, but it would have been a nice diversion here instead of trumpp hatred, R’s hatred of America, Russian’s hatred of America, but instead have a sing along of All We Need Is Love for a few minutes.
Trump had nothing to say in 2016 when Labour MP Jo Cox was murdered by a far righter.
His acolyte Nigel Farage had the nerve to attack her widow.
When Donnie finally learns that a mixed-race woman is marrying into the royal family he’s really going to lose it.
It’s the 50th anniversary of Magical Mystery Tour so it’s even more appropriate.
The big question is: What can be done about this? Because the president’s Nazism and racism will only get worse. Two possibilities (which I don’t particularly endorse but merely float) spring to mind:
-
Senior Democrats (Schumer, Pelosi etc) begin to make public statements of concern about the mental health of the president. Put the question of Trump’s sanity–hitherto referred to as his ‘temperament’–right out there in the public discussion box, where it belongs.
-
Run very disturbing but accurate ads that dramatize the nature of the people Trump’s retweeting–the Jo Cox murder scene, scene of the Sandy Hook massacre questioned by Alex Jones, etc-- and portray Trump as the vile extremist that he is.
Any other suggestions? We can’t just become inured to this stuff.
